With massive career-defining performances in recent hits such as The Last Of Us, The Mandalorian, and The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent, the A-lister seems to be present in all modern pop culture zeitgeists. According to a recent write-up from Deadline, Pascal’s career may soon be even more ubiquitous than ever before, as the performer is currently a frontrunner to bring the Fantastic Four‘s Reed Richards to life for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Can Pedro Pascal Save A Failing MCU
Marvel has been struggling to gain footing in recent years, with the rise of superhero fatigue and the untenable Disney+ release schedule causing the franchise to spin out. Recent Marvel outings such as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels have left even the biggest Marvel fans clamoring for a significant change of pace. If the franchise does snag Pedro Pascal as their leading man for the first Fantastic Four entry in the interconnected web of the MCU, it could serve as just the jolt of inspiration the fandom needs.
Casting Rumors Have Swirled
While Disney execs have been tight-lipped about their selection process for the upcoming film, fans have been pontificating online regarding the best casting for the superhero quartet for some time. The Office‘s John Krasinski was previously thought to be cemented in the role of Mister Fantastic, but the Jack Ryan performer clarified that he only took the role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in a minor cameo capacity, and has not signed on to star in the upcoming Fantastic Four film. To that end, fans have been throwing around names that range from Pedro Pascal to Adam Driver to It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia‘s Glenn Howerton in their dream casting vision boards.
Pedro Pascal Has A Tight Schedule
If Disney does snatch up Pedro Pascal for the role, the intensive scheduling would be highly difficult to plan out, as the Last Of Us star is currently slated to appear in over eight projects in various stages of active production on IMDb. With more than five dozen credited appearances already, Pascal’s star only continues to rise as he becomes exponentially busier.
Casting The Remaining Members
Marvel executives have also not yet named frontrunners for the remaining cast of the upcoming Fantastic Four film, which will undoubtedly showcase famed comic book characters such as Susan Storm, The Human Torch, The Thing, and Doctor Doom. Pedro Pascal’s rumored casting would place him as the de-facto leader of the quartet, super genius scientist and stretch-powered hero Reed Richards, AKA Mister Fantastic. In addition to leading the team in the comics and previous film outings, Fantastic is responsible for a number of massive developments in the extended Marvel universe.

The MCU has had to get quite creative thus far in developing long-running plot lines without access to the formerly Fox-owned super-team, as Reed Richards had a major hand in events such as the Infinity Saga, the Civil War, and Spider-Man’s development as a hero throughout the comics. There’s currently no confirmation on the casting of the first official MCU-verified Fantastic Four outing, but Pedro Pascal would certainly be an excellent choice that would help bring fans back into the movie theaters.
