Paul Rudd Just Lost Sexiest Man Alive To Another Avenger
Paul Rudd has lost the title of People's Sexiest Man Alive to Chris Evans.
Clueless actor Paul Rudd has come a long way since his days as Cher Horowitz’s ex-stepbrother/love interest, including his stint as People Magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” in 2021. However, according to CBS News, the Marvel Cinematic Universe star has been dethroned in the coveted honor by his fellow onscreen Avenger Chris Evans. Evans, known internationally as the superhero Captain America in the MCU, was officially announced as the “Sexiest Man Alive” on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert this week, an honor he will carry for the next 365 days.
Paul Rudd and Chris Evans starred in separate movies for the Marvel Cinematic Universe but eventually came together in the global blockbusters Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Endgame. Rudd was named “Sexiest Man Alive” last year by People Magazine, primarily due to his stunning good looks and work in high-profile films like Ant-Man and the Wasp and Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Other men that have shared the same honor in previous years include A-list actors Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Mel Gibson, and Ryan Reynolds.
Chris Evans might be enjoying his time in the sun as the “Sexiest Man Alive” for now, as the actor has had a banner year starring in films like Lightyear and the Netflix action thriller The Gray Man alongside Ryan Gosling and Ana de Armas. Evans has become quite popular on social media for his work in grassroots politics through his website, A Starting Point, which focuses on telling stories and videos of politicians from both sides of the political point of view.
Unlike Paul Rudd these days, Evans is a staple of TikTok videos dedicated to the actor, where everyone from Lizzo to social media influencers has made videos to honor Evans’ sex appeal.
As for Paul Rudd, he has taken to the small screen in recent years to act in dramatic television shows, namely as Dr. Isaac Herschkopf in the psychological miniseries The Shrink Next Door on Apple TV+, as well as a remarkable cameo in the second season of Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building.
For the latter, Rudd’s cameo in the finale sparked interest from fans of the Steve Martin and Martin Short series regarding the role of the actor in a potential third-season appearance. Only Murders in the Building has become the go-to series for well-known actors to make cameo appearances as of late, including comedian Amy Schumer and Academy Award-winning actor Shirley MacLaine.
Outside of his work on television, Paul Rudd is gearing up for the next phase of the MCU with another installment of his popular Ant-Man series. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will debut in theaters in February 2023 and will jump-start the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Five, which will include the Chris Pratt-led Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will see Rudd reprise his role as Scott Lang, in addition to the return of Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet van Dyne, and Jonathan Majors joining in on the fun as Kang the Conqueror.
