SPOILERS FOR A POPULAR HULU SHOW BELOW

Paul Rudd has long been considered one of the most charming and funniest people in show business and for good reason. Since his big screen debut in the 1995 high school comedy classic Clueless, he has been improving both television shows, Judd Apatow-adjacent movies, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his presence. Per Variety, it has just been announced that Paul Rudd will now be joining one of the best shows on television, the Hulu program Only Murders in the Building for their upcoming third season. It has not been announced yet whether Paul Rudd will be in the main cast, supporting, or guest in the Hulu comedic mystery show, but any amount of Rudd is fine by us.

Paul Rudd appeared in the closing scenes of the season two finale of the Hulu series Only Murders in the Building as Broadway star Ben Glenroy. The announced appearance initially seemed to be a cheeky cameo in the same vein as season one’s use of musician/actor Sting as a possible murder suspect or Amy Schumer showing up as herself in the season two premiere, but now sounds like it was set-up for the next season’s mystery. Shortly after angrily emerging from a backstage dressing room, Paul Rudd got into a pre-show argument with Hulu star and show co-creator Steve Martin, only to die moments after the curtains opened. Given that Paul Rudd as Ben Glenroy is now dead within the universe of the Hulu show, we can assume we mostly will be seeing him in flashbacks from now on.

Only Murders in the Building stars Steve Martin (who co-created the show along with John Hoffman) as a washed-up, mostly retired actor named Charles Haden-Savage. Longtime friend and collaborator Martin Short stars as Oliver Putnam, a flamboyant and arrogant Broadway director, and Selena Gomez stars as Mabel Mora, a mysterious young artist newly moved into the historic and enormous Arconia Building in New York City that houses them all. The first season saw the three investigating the murder of a neighbor and starting an unexpectedly popular true crime podcast together. The second began with Selena Gomez as the suspect in another Arconia murder, and it seems that the third shall now be following the mystery of Paul Rudd’s death in a popular Hulu show.

In addition to his new role on Only Murders in the Building, Paul Rudd is currently starring as Scott Lang (aka Ant-Man) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He first appeared as the character in 2015’s Ant-Man, along with Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne and Michael Douglas as Hank Pym. That was followed by Ant-Man and the Wasp, which is soon to be followed by Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. He also appeared in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame as well as Captain America: Civil War. Paul Rudd will be an excellent addition to one of the most critically acclaimed (and funniest) series on Hulu, even if we may only see him as a corpse at least some of the time.
