For those of you who thought you have seen the last of Paul Bettany as Vision, you may be in for a nice surprise. You haven’t. At least that is the rumor floating around from insider Daniel Richtman on his Patreon page. According to Richtman, Bettany will return as White Vision to learn how to be human again. Richtman also says that it won’t be a one-off but Bettany will appear in more films and shows.

One may be thinking, how many lives does Bettany have as Vision? He’s been killed on numerous occasions, the last time (which was twice in one sitting) came in Avengers: Infinity War, which saw him first die at the hands of his true love, Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) only to be brought back to life when Thanos used the Time Stone to undo what Wanda did. Thanos then proceeded to relieve Vision for the burden of Mind Stone, killing him for the second time.

Paul Bettany’s fan-favorite Vision came back to life in WandaVision but as the series progressed, we found out that he wasn’t truly alive, but part of Wanda’s grief, something she created in order to ease the pain of his loss. As things further unfolded, we come to find out that S.W.O.R.D has taken the dead Vision and reprogrammed him, creating the White Vision. As the two met (fan favorite and White Vision) over a philosophical debate and a few roundhouses or two, it looked as if Vision was able to help unlock memories that White Vision didn’t know he had. He seemed to acknowledge this as right before he flies away never to be seen again, White Vision declares, “I am Vision.”

So, White Vision is out there and WandaVision purposely didn’t give us a conclusion. With the many upcoming Marvel movies, Disney+ shows, and Phase 4 just beginning, there are plenty of chances for Paul Bettany and his White Vision to make his return. Per comic book lore, White Vision makes his first appearance in VisionQuest, the John Byrne story from West Coast Avengers. In it, Vision is disassembled but put back together by none other than Hank Pym of Ant-Man fame. But the reassemble doesn’t go exactly as planned so Vision turns into White Vision.

Vegas odds have Paul Bettany returning as White Vision in the upcoming and recently announced Armor Wars, which will see Don Cheadle leading the way as James “Rhodey” Rhodes a.k.a. War Machine. The new series was announced by Marvel President Kevin Feige during the 2020 Disney Investors Day presentation. The premise is simple: what happens if Tony Stark’s technology falls into the wrong hands? It will be up to War Machine to work out those issues and with Vision formerly known as J.A.R.V.I.S., it would be a great opportunity for Paul Bettany and his White Vision to reappear.

Of course, there could be other opportunities for Paul Bettany. With Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlett Witch taking center stage for much of Phase 4, his appearance in anything she’s is in wouldn’t come as a surprise. Olsen will next appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and it is said that she will see some screen time in Spider-Man: No Way Home and is also expected to show up in some form in the Captain Marvel sequel. Doctor Strange is her only confirmed appearance.

If you ask Paul Bettany, the actor is all in to return as Vision in any form as he told Esquire, “I love Vision. Yes, I’m in.” Now we just need to know what story he is going to fit into.
