Back in the day, it would take years for anime to make its way from Japan to the rest of the world, including North America. Now, thanks to the growing popularity of the industry and internationally, that wait time is much, much lower. Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom shows this by releasing the film in Japan in early September and then coming to America only two months later on November 8.

Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom isn’t the first of the Overlord movies. There were two others before it; Overlord: The Undead King and Overlord: The Dark Hero. Several have an average score of 7.6 on My Anime List.

The Overlord anime also has pretty good ratings. There are a total of four seasons, with the lowest-rated one having a 7.75 on My Anime List. Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom will follow behind the fourth season of the anime series.

The series follows the story of a man named Momonga, who was a salaryman who ended up trapped in his favorite MMORPG game after it shut down. He ended up an incredibly powerful sorcerer in the world, and earned the title of Sorcerer King Ainz Ooal Gown. However, in Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom, a series of demons are looking to shatter the peace.

Unfortunately, the kingdom is unable to compete with the demons and is quickly overwhelmed. The Holy Knights search for someone who can help them turn the tide. Though the Holy Kingdom detests the Sorcerer Kingdom of Ainz Ooal Gown, they realize this may be the only place they can find help.
