Miguel O’Hara, aka Spider-Man 2099, is set to be a bit part of the upcoming Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse film, with Oscar Issac cast to voice the character. We got a glimpse of the character at the end of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and then finally saw him in action during the recently released trailer. Now the official Twitter account for the Sony film posted a still of the character, and he looks awesome:

His futuristic suit perfectly encapsulates the character and the universe he comes from. It also is very comic-book accurate to the fan-favorite suit. Oscar Isaac will voice Spider-Man 2099 in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and he’ll be far from the only Spidey we see in the film.

Along with Spider-Man 2099, Across the Spider-Verse will introduce major characters like Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman (Issa Rae) and Hobie Brown/Spider-Punk (Daniel Kaluuya). Of course, Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), Spider-Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld), and Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson) will also be returning for the multiverse adventures. The film will follow these various Spider-People as they face off against a multiversal villain known as The Spot.

While we know Spider-Man 2099, Spider-Woman, and Spider-Punk will be playing bigger roles in the film, there are tons of cameos from other Spidey characters that may have smaller roles or turn out to be bigger players than the marketing is letting on. So far, other confirmed Spideys include Japanese Spider-Man, the Spider-Man from the Insomniac video games, Scarlet Spider, Superior Spider-Man, Spider-man India, Spectacular Spider-Man, Bombastic Bag Man, Spider Monkey, Lady Spider, Mangaverse Spider-Man, Spider-Man Unlimited, Madame Web, and Spider-Girl.

Fortunately, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is being split into two films, so hopefully, everyone gets their time to shine.

Spider-Man 2099

One of the biggest recent rumors is that Tom Holland could show up in the film in a live-action universe. This would be a huge crossover and would also provide a cool opportunity to see the voice actors play their roles in live-action. Who wouldn’t want to see Oscar Isaac as Spider-Man 2099, Shameik Moore as Miles, and Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen in live-action?

It was also revealed that Spider-Man 2099 will serve a more antagonistic role in the movie. While he obviously won’t be the villain of the film, he’s going to butt heads with Miles, and the two won’t always agree on the best way to do things. It’ll be interesting to see this dynamic play out between the two, especially since the Spider-People in the previous film all got along pretty well.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson from a screenplay by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and David Callaham. The first film was a massive critical and commercial success, even winning the Best Animated Feature Oscar. There are high expectations for his one, but this screenshot of Spider-Man 2099 and the incredible trailer makes it seem like the film is going to recreate that magic yet again.

We’ll get to see Spider-Man 2099 in action when Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse hits theaters on June 2. The sequel, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, comes out in 2024. Stay tuned for more news on both of these films.
