Triple Frontier, starring Hollywood heavyweights Oscar Isaac, Ben Affleck, and Pedro Pascal, is streaming on Netflix.
Raking in mixed reviews from critics, Triple Frontier celebrated its world premiere in 2019 with a handful of theaters screening it prior to its March 13 arrival. Making moves on Netflix, the film quickly amassed 52 million views during its first few weeks on the streamer. Critics who leaned in favor of the heist flick praised Chandor’s directorial vision, the film’s script, and performances from the likes of Oscar Isaac and Pedro Pascal.
The road to its 2019 release was a long one as a handful of personnel changes followed Triple Frontier from its first days of conception in 2010. Initially, The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty helmer, Kathryn Bigelow was attached to direct with Johnny Depp and Tom Hanks both in talks for leading roles.
By 2015, Bigelow had departed with the main characters now set to be played by Will Smith and Tom Hanks before 2017 brought about Channing Tatum and Tom Hardy taking over for Hanks and Smith with Oscar Isaac, Ben Affleck, and Pedro Pascal eventually nabbing the leading roles.
Along with tapping celebrated performers to star in Triple Frontier, the folks behind the feature also ensured that audiences would be getting the best of the best when it came to a quality action-film soundtrack. Blending classics like Metallica’s “For Whom the Bell Tolls,” Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain,” Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Run Through the Jungle,” and Bob Dylan’s “Masters of War” with a batch of original compositions by Disasterpeace, the music drives the film’s force.

Included in that lineup were titles such as Always Be My Maybe, Between Two Ferns: The Movie, El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie, Seventeen, Two Popes, The Irishman, Marriage Story, and Murder Mystery.
As for Triple Frontier leading man Oscar Isaac, 2019 was also a stellar year in his career as, not only did he find success with Netflix but he also celebrated the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, a project that would round out his time in the galaxy far far away. An incredibly talented and skilled performer, 2019 also saw Isaac put his vocal talents to the test in the animated film, The Addams Family, a role which he would reprise in 2021’s The Addams Family 2.
