Oppenheimer Is Finally Coming To Streaming
The bomb is preparing to drop as Oppenheimer will officially be available on streaming via Peacock. The Christopher Nolan-helmed blockbuster arrives on the service beginning on February 16, allowing audiences to catch the historical drama for the first or 100th time. Starring Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., and more, the film was an explosive hit at the box office and one of the most talked about titles of the last year.
Oppenheimer Coming To Peacock
Oppenheimer’s streaming debut is a long time coming as the film first arrived in cinemas in late July of last year.
While times always vary on how long it takes movies to make it onto streaming platforms, Oppenheimer has been one of the most anticipated streaming titles of the year.
Even Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, which was Oppenheimer’s number one competitor at the summer box office, landed on Max back in December – a full two months before Oppenheimer’s Peacock drop.
Oppenheimer Length
That is not to sound like we’re complaining; We’re just thrilled that the three-hour film will finally be available to watch from the comfort of our own home, with an option to pause for snack and bathroom breaks.
Perhaps the magnum opus of Christopher Nolan’s career (at least so far), Oppenheimer’s streaming announcement, gives those weary about sitting in a theater for so long, an option to see what the rest of the world has been talking about.
The Oppenheimer Story
In the film, Cillian Murphy stars as the titular J. Robert Oppenheimer, the physicist behind the creation of the atomic bomb which would eventually be used by the United States against Japan to put an end to the Second World War.
The movie features a star-studded cast with the aforementioned Murphy, Blunt, and Downey Jr. joined by the likes of Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Josh Hartnett, Kenneth Branagh, and more.
Oppenheimer’s streaming announcement comes just in time for award season as the film is already sweeping the circuit with more nominations expected to be on the way.
Oppenheimer And Barbie
With Oppenheimer and Barbie both on streaming come February, audiences can also have their very own at-home “Barbenheimer” watch-through.
Those brave enough to sit through two lengthy films made the combined title all the rage over the summer, attending back-to-back screenings of the two films.
Depending on which way you saw them, you either saw a dark historical drama about the creation of the world’s most dangerous weapon followed by a vibrant and well-written film about womanhood or vice-versa.
More Christopher Nolan
While you’re waiting for Oppenheimer to arrive on Peacock for streaming, you can dig into a handful of other titles from its director, Christopher Nolan.
Thanks to a licensing deal with Warner Bros. beginning on February 1, audiences can tune into the platform for Nolan’s titles, Inception, Dunkirk, Memento, and the Dark Knight trilogy.
More Peacock Titles
As for Peacock, right now subscribers can stream other new releases like The Holdovers and Five Nights at Freddy’s. NBC’s streamer is also the home of shows from Bravo such as The Real Housewives franchises, Vanderpump Rules, and more. Catch Oppenheimer for its streaming debut on February 16.
