Only Murders In The Building Star Is Now A Certified Billionaire

Selena Gomez has come quite far since her roots as an actor on the Disney channel in her adolescent years. Since that time she has become a musician, developed a cosmetic brand, gotten involved in a mental health startup, continued as an actor, and developed one of the largest Instagram followings of all time. And now the young star adds yet another accolade to her list of achievements, with Selena Gomez officially becoming a billionaire through her work ventures.

Selena Gomez’s Rise To Billionaire Status

The ways in which fans know Gomez can be quite varied seeing as how diverse her career has already been. Some may know her through her current acting roles, such as one of the leads on the show Only Murders in the Building. Others will of course know her from her six music albums.

However, it actually turns out that the vast majority of Selena Gomez’s worth as a billionaire comes from her cosmetic brand, Rare Beauty.

It is estimated that a whopping 81.4% of Selena Gomez’s fortune as a billionaire is derived from Rare Beauty. That is especially incredible seeing as how the brand itself was only launched in 2019, which also would have given it a rough introduction period right before the pandemic happened.

Multiple Streams Of Revenue

A major factor in Gomez’s success no doubt comes from her enormous Instagram following. She is the fourth most followed Instagram account of all time, with 424 million followers. This far eclipses even the likes of Taylor Swift and even major brands like Nike.

However, Selena Gomez’s road to becoming a billionaire is also from how many different avenues she has gotten involved in for streams of revenue.

Wealth Earned Outside Of Entertainment

While the entertainment industry has been hampered the last few years due to issues like the aforementioned pandemic, as well as the writers strikes impacting actors, Gomez was able to continue working during these periods through other roles. For instance, she has also been involved in real estate sales that have helped bolster her income. Despite her fandom for her music, Selena Gomez actually does not owe a huge amount of her billionaire status due to her albums.

Remembering Her Roots

Gomez has not even released a new album since 2020 and has not toured as a soloist since 2016. Her penchant for reinventing herself has served her well in allowing her to build up her fame and public image, and then leveraging that in more financially reliable ways than the entertainment industry. However, Selena Gomez now being a billionaire does not mean she has forgotten her roots.

Returning To Her Alma Mater

She got her big break through being a part of Disney’s Wizards of Waverly Place series starting in 2007. In 2012, when the series ended, Gomez elected to shed her adolescent image by being one of the stars of the controversial Spring Breakers film. Though bigger roles would certainly be available to Selena Gomez now that she has become a billionaire, she is now set to return to Disney for Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, a sequel series to the show from a decade ago.
