See One Piece’s Iconic Ship Adapted To Live-Action In New Video
One Piece is the next anime that is being adapted into a new live-action format, and Netflix has given a sneak peek into what some of the popular ships from the anime look like.
One Piece is the newest anime that is set to receive the live-action treatment. Anime has swept the world as one of the most popular mediums of entertainment. While most popular shows are animated, some have become adapted into live-action shows and films. Some have worked out, while others have been critically panned and shunned by audiences. We are not sure how One Piece will do, but a recent behind-the-scenes video during Netflix’s “Geeked Week” should put some people at ease. This new video showed off the massive sets that will be used for this ambitious series, including the Going Merry. You can see this video below:
Honestly, the amount of work that has been shown in this video should help to sway even the most skeptical fans of this new One Piece live-action format. There is a great deal and care taken into concocting these massive sets. In the above video, Iñaki Godoy introduces himself as the person taking on the titular role of Monkey D. Luffy. He is also joined by showrunners for the series, Steve Maeda and Matt Owens. They reveal they are filming in South Africa, and then the real fun begins. Some of the sets shown are the Going Merry, Miss Love Duck, and the Baratie. The Baratie looks massive, and the fish mouth with accompanying bar looks outstanding. The same can be said for the other ships shown as well.
One Piece is a massive anime that was initially created and aired in the late 1990s. Through its nearly 30 years in production, the anime has over 1,000 episodes. Yes, you read that right. The show has been steadily one of the biggest fan-favorite anime series and manga ever created. Much like Dragon Ball Z, One Piece has remained popular for decades on end. It had only been announced recently that the anime will finally be ending. Eiichiro Oda, the creator of the anime, has announced a month’s break will occur from the end of June to July. After the break, he will prepare to write the final chapter. This is presumably going to line up with the next animated film that is going to release and this new Netflix series. It sounds as if Oda is throwing in his support for the new series, which should excite plenty of fans.
One Piece looks massive, and that should be the case for the longest-running anime in the history of the medium. All the setlists look amazing, and there is surely a ton of care that is going to make sure this could be the most successful live-action adaptation that has ever been created. We are not sure if they are planning to write over 1000 episodes, but they are pouring in a ton of work to ensure long-time fans of the anime are pleased.
One Piece is set to premiere on Netflix on June 22. The first season will be 10 episodes, and everyone can enjoy this new adaptation soon. There has oddly not been a trailer for the new series, though we may see one in the next week or two. Then again, the live-action series creators might just forego a trailer to allow everyone to be amazed. This behind-the-scenes look at some of the ship’s construction surely excited us.
