The Norman Reedus Walking Dead Spin-Off First Look Is The Show Fans Have Wanted For Years
The long-running AMC series The Walking Dead may have ended last November, but that doesn’t mean that we’ve seen the last of the zombie apocalypse series or its popular characters. We’ve seen Lauren Cohen and Jeffrey Dean Morgan reprise their roles in The Walking Dead: Dead City. And now seen the season debut trailer for Norman Reedus once again playing Daryl in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.
Norman Reedus rides again in the first trailer for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.
On Friday, the trailer was revealed at Comic-Con as part of AMC’s Walking Dead Universe Fan Watch Party. The trailer shows that The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon picks up some time after the original series left off, with Norman Reedus’ character waking up in France and not remembering how he got there. Daryl finds himself trying to make his way out of the apocalyptic European landscape to return to the much-more-familiar apocalyptic American landscape.
Norman Reedus portrayed Daryl as an aggressive (and sometimes impulsive) survivalist throughout the original series of The Walking Dead. The character started out as something of a brash individual who was more of a hindrance than a help, but throughout the course of the series, he became one of the most valuable assets that The Coalition had. At the end of the series, however, Daryl leaves the group on his motorcycle, promising he’ll return.
Norman Reedus breakout character Daryl Dixon carried The Walking Dead’s later seasons, leading to his spinoff becoming the most anticipated of the franchise.
The two-minute trailer isn’t the only taste of Norman Reedus’ new show that fans of The Walking Dead will have access to this weekend. During the fan watch party, AMC announced that the first ten minutes of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will be available this Saturday. AMC+ subscribers can now watch the exclusive sneak peek on their website.
Although the new series has not even been launched yet, AMC has already announced that Norman Reedus will be returning for a second season of the new show. The first season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is set to premiere Sunday, September 10 on AMC and AMC+.
Of course, a second season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will require Norman Reedus to return to his role. With the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and Writer’s Guild strikes, the continuation of the series will require Hollywood studios to come to an agreement before any new content can be created.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon finished filming earlier this year, so it is unaffected by the Hollywood strikes and will air later this year.
Luckily for fans looking forward to Daryl Dixon, the first season completed filming in March 2023, meaning that, at the very least, all Season 1 episodes will be able to air unabated.
While the new shows are the biggest news coming out of AMC this Comic-Con, the fan watch party also gave news about an older series. Fear the Walking Dead, the first spinoff of the original series will start the second half of its eighth and final season this October 22. The series has six episodes left, the last of which will air on November 26.
