Norman Reedus Has Joined John Wick
It’s been less than a month since AMC’s long-running series The Walking Dead came to a conclusion after 11 seasons, and in addition to reprising his role as Daryl Dixon in a forthcoming spinoff show, Norman Reedus has been tapped to star in another spinoff. According to Deadline, the 53-year-old actor has landed an unspecified role in Ballerina, which is an upcoming film set in the John Wick universe.
Norman Reedus joins already cast Ana de Armas, Angelica Huston, Catalina Sandino Moreno, and Lance Reddick, with Keanu Reeves reportedly returning as John Wick in a cameo role. Production for Ballerina is currently underway, with Len Wiseman directing the project from a script by Shay Hatten. Although no release has been set at this time, the spinoff is expected to release sometime in 2024.
One of the film’s producers, Erica Lee, shared her excitement in bringing Norman Reedus into the ever-expanding world of John Wick. She revealed that she’s a big fan of the actor and believes fans will be just as ecstatic as she is to have him aboard Ballerina. She’s stated that she was confident he would make a tremendous addition to the upcoming film.
While Ana de Armas and Norman Reedus are new to the John Wick franchise, Reddick, Huston, McShane and Reeves have all appeared in previous entries in the initial series. The forthcoming spinoff will center around a young female assassin who seeks revenge against the people who killed her family. The film is going to expand on the faction of Ballerinas, which fans were introduced to in 2019’s John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.
Now that Norman Reedus has been confirmed to have a role in Ballerina, we can’t help but wonder if he’ll make an appearance in next year’s highly anticipated sequel John Wick: Chapter 4, even if it’s just in a brief cameo role. Arriving in theaters March 24, 2023, the latest entry in the wildly popular action series sees the titular character uncovering a path to defeating The High Table. But before he can earn his freedom, he must face off against a new enemy, with powerful alliances across the globe and forces that turn old friends into foes.
Regardless of whether Norman Reedus appears in the fourth John Wick installment, anticipation is at an all-time high following the release of the film’s first explosive trailer. The first three movies have grossed a combined global total of nearly $600 million, and they were all considered critical successes. It’ll be interesting to see if the latest entry can push the figure across the $1 billion mark.
In addition to Ballerina, Norman Reedus is hard at work on the spinoff series The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. The upcoming show will see the beloved character transported across the Atlantic to France, where he’s faced with a whole new level of a world gone mad. Filming is currently underway for the series, and it’s expected to arrive sometime in 2023, well before we see him in action in the world of John Wick.
