Norman Reedus, best known for playing the ever-popular Daryl Dixon on The Walking Dead, has reportedly been injured on set. The news comes by way of Fandemic Tour’s social media pages. Described as a new kind of comic convention, the 2022 event begins on March 18th and runs until March 20th in Atlanta, Georgia. Event organizers said the 53-year-old had to postpone his appearance, which would have had him signing autographs and taking photos with fans. They also passed on a message from The Walking Dead star, expressing his regret for not being able to attend. “Due to unforeseen circumstances Norman Reedus had to postpone due to an accident while filming”, the Instagram caption read. “Everyone in our amazing community knows how much he loves his fans, and he wants you to know how terrible he feels about the situation.”
Fandemic also noted that the star’s health comes first and sent the 53-year-old well-wishes on behalf of everyone at the event. Check out Fandemic’s social media update below:
Interestingly, Norman Reedus hasn’t personally addressed his injury just yet. Instead, his last Instagram post features images promoting his debut novel The Ravaged. Written by the would-be Ghost Rider with some help from Frank Bill, the story is described as a gritty, fast-paced tale about three different people on personal quests with eerily similar outcomes. The novel is set for release on April 5, 2022.
As such, there is a little uncertainty about which Waking Dead show he was working on when he got injured. It could have been the final season of the flagship series or the Daryl & Carol spin-off. Created by Angela Kang and Scott M. Gimple, the follow-up series was announced by AMC in September 2020. The story will feature Reedus and McBride as their characters Daryl and Carol, respectively. The show is set to premiere in 2023 after the eleventh season of the main series concludes.
The 11th and final season of The Walking Dead will wrap filming on its final episode later this month. However, it’s unclear how Norman Reedus’ injury may affect this schedule. The last installment in the post-apocalyptic horror series debuted in August 2021. Consisting of 24 episodes, the series will conclude in the coming months.
The Walking Dead television series is based on the comic books by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard. The finale season of Norman Reedus starrer adapts material from issues #175–193 of the comic book series. The story follows the group’s encounter with the Commonwealth, a large network of communities with advanced equipment and over 50,000 survivors living in different settlements.
It also explores the group’s confrontation with the Reapers, a mysterious faction of hostile survivors that attacked and took Meridian, the former home of Maggie and her new people – the Wardens. The first half of season 11 saw Maggie refusing to become a part of the Commonwealth while Daryl (Norman Reedus) accepted their offer and joined their military. As part of their community, Daryl and the other survivors are starting to realize that the seemingly perfect Commonwealth has its fair share of problems too. So far the series has received mixed reviews.
