Nobody 2 Gets The Best Violent Director Working Today
While it was previously confirmed that Bob Odenkirk is returning to his role in Nobody 2, much of the cast and crew weren’t disclosed, and the director of the original movie, Ilya Naishuller, didn’t offer any commentary on the matter. In fact, it wasn’t even known whether or not he would return as Nobody 2 director until today. Sadly, Naishuller won’t return as Nobody 2 director; instead, his chair will be filled by Timo Tjahjanto, while John Wick creator Derek Kolstad, who’s also responsible for scripting the original movie, is writing the sequel’s script.
Aces In Their Places
He’s not working alone, though; Aaron Rabin, Odenkirk, and Umair Aleem are also contributing to the film’s script. David Leitch, the director of The Fall Guy and Bullet Train, is returning to produce the sequel with Kelly McCormick, both of whom produced the original Nobody movie.
Timo Tjahjanto’s Past Work
The new Nobody 2 director Timo Tjahjanto is best known for his work on horror film franchises, particularly V/H/S, as well as Netflix- released films May the Devil Take You, The Big 4, and The Night Comes for Us. He’s also best known for his collaborations with Kimo Stamboel, who worked to help write and direct movies such as Macabre, Killers, and Headshot. Considering that he’s known for his horror and action releases, we have very little doubt in his ability to match the quality of Ilya Naishuller’s work.
More Updates To Come
Sadly, apart from the new Nobody 2 director, we still know very little about the upcoming movie—sure, Bob Odenkirk and Connie Nielsen have both confirmed reprising their respective roles, and Timo Tjahjanto has been brought on board as a director, but we know nothing about the rest of the cast or the film’s plot. We do know that Nobody 2 is scheduled to be released in cinemas on August 15, 2025.
Considering that the movie is still in pre-production—at least according to Odenkirk’s IMDb—we’re likely to receive further details as the development progresses.
Plenty Of Time To Watch The First Nobody
The original Nobody was directed by Ilya Naishuller and follows a mild-mannered family man who exits retirement and reveals that he’s actually a former assassin after he and his family become targets of a vengeful crime lord. The movie managed to earn $57 million on a budget of $16 million and has earned generally positive reviews from the critics, who praised the action sequences, as well as Odenkirk’s performance—leading to the development of the upcoming sequel that finally got its Nobody 2 director.
A Perfect Franchise Setup
The idea of a sequel was entertained by the audiences immediately after the original movie toured the cinemas, considering that it’s a great movie and that both the character and the movie were made with the sequel in mind.
Though it’s slowly showing all the hallmarks of a cinematic franchise, Nobody is proof that you don’t need to be connected to one cinematic franchise to produce a successful movie and that such projects demand nothing less than a reasonably sized budget and some talent behind all that to make stuff work. We just hope that the director of Nobody 2 delivers a finished product of the same quality as the original movie.
