Nicolas Cage was arguably one of the funniest men in show business until he turned his sights on more macho action-based films. Raising Arizona is one of the funniest films in cinema history. It took quite some time for him to return to the comedy genre, but his return was certainly welcomed. Cage starred in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent as a fictionalized version of himself, and the film was critically lauded and loved by audiences. It has also been reported that is now teaming with A24 and famed director Ari Aster for a new comedy called Dream Scenario.

For those who do not know him by name, Ari Aster is famous for having directed both Midsommar and Hereditary. Both films turned out to be huge fan-favorite draws, with the former launching the career of Florence Pugh. Although Aster has spent the last few years directing horror, he is moving over to a producer role for this new A24 comedy film. Directing Dream Scenario is Kristoffer Borgli. Borgli has his directorial debut film, Sick of Myself, debut at the Cannes Film Festival this year. Now, he is going from Cannes to directing the high-level talent that is Nicolas Cage. That is not bad for a man that just directed his first feature film.

For now, the plot details of Dream Scenario are being kept under wraps. All that is known is that A24 is producing this new comedy alongside Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen’s company, Square Peg. Borgli is also tasked with penning the script. Seems like Nicolas Cage is having himself quite a renaissance. He went from indie hits like Mandy and Pig, into a film where he plays himself, and now has booked his second comedy film. Apart from Dream Scenario, Cage is going to be leading the action comedy from Universal called, Renfield. Cage will be portraying Dracula alongside Nicholas Hoult as Renfield. The images of Cage in full costume have given everyone hope that the film is going to be quite hilarious.

Apart from the previously mentioned films, Nicolas Cage is also rumored to be working on a Face/Off 2 sequel and a Con Air sequel. Though he was not mentioned in the National Treasure Disney+ reboot, there are also rumors that he will be reprising his character Ben Gates at some point. He is quite a busy man. While we wish he would stay within the comedy genre for the foreseeable future, it is quite exciting to see him return to some of his most iconic roles.

We might have to wait sometime to see Nicolas Cage appear in Dream Scenario, but the ball is now rolling on the film. This could mean that shooting is meant to happen within the next few months. Barring any delays for the film, this A24-produced comedy could be released in theaters in early 2024. Hopefully, the film comes out sooner than that, but it does usually take more than a year for one to be put together. For now, we can wait to see Cage as Dracula when Renfield hits theaters in April of 2023.
