Nicolas Cage’s New Movie Is His Strangest Ever, See The Trailer
Nicolas Cage is back in the limelight with his new movie trailer for Dream Scenario currently posted on YouTube. The film is set to drop into theaters in early November (2023), but it has already made its debut at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
TIFF critics gave the film positive reviews, commenting on the brilliance of director Kristoffer Borgli and the revival of greatness that has been present in the last few Nicolas Cage movies to be released.
The trailer for Nicolas Cage’s Dream Scenario shows the star as a humble professor inexplicably showing up in dreams of strangers around the world.
Before being involved in Dream Scenario, Cage revitalized his on-screen success with his role as Dracula in Renfield, his work in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, and his emotionally driven performance in Pig. After a long lull in his acting career, it seems Nicolas Cage has once again found his stride.
With Nicolas Cage at the helm, Dream Scenario also stars Julianne Nicholson (Black Mass), Michael Cera (Juno), Tim Meadows (The Ladies Man), Dylan Gelula (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), and Dylan Baker (Inside Man). The film has a long list of producers including Cage himself, Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen under their square peg banner, Jacob Jaffke, and Tyler Campellone.
On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, Dream Scenario already has an 86 percent positive rating from critics, which inspires hope for future viewers of the film.
The full story of Dream Scenario is not yet clear, as the movie has yet to be seen worldwide. However, the general plot of the film follows a socially awkward and unattractive professor named Paul Matthews.
He lives his life generally unconnected to those around him until he suddenly finds himself present in the dreams of just about everyone. At first, the dreams are relatively benign, and Matthews finds himself in the spotlight, feeling like a star.
Nicolas Cage’s character in Dream Scenario is treated much more harshly by those around him when his dream self begins getting violent…
Most people just see him there in their dreams, standing, staring indifferently at the various subject matter in their nightly affairs. As the professor begins experiencing the fame and attention he has always wanted, the vibe shifts a bit when he meets a dreamer whose subconscious reels present Matthews in a much more daunting manner.
Nicolas Cage’s character in Dream Scenario is treated much more harshly by those around him when his dream self begins getting violent, explaining why the film is labeled as a horror comedy. His interactions with dreamers and the ongoing search to uncover the root of the whole situation will leave viewers wondering whether they should laugh or gasp.
