New Supernatural Comedy Anime On Crunchyroll Is Perfect Halloween Treat
October is the perfect time to watch shows centered around ghosts, demons, and monsters. A Terrified Teacher at Ghoul School! definitely has all of these elements. However, instead of being a nail-bitingly frightful series, it’s a comedy perfect to help fans release some of the tension of the spooky Halloween month.
Supernatural Comedy Based On The Manga
A Terrified Teacher at Ghoul School! is a supernatural comedy based on a manga by the same name from Mai Tanaka. It’s currently still running and features 16 volumes. The manga started in 2014, and in 2017, it was licensed for English publication.
This means the anime will be released on the 10th anniversary of the start of the manga, which is quite a long time, but not unheard of to get an anime adaptation.
The story follows Haruaki Abe, who is a new and rather cowardly teacher. Even regular students send him whimpering and hiding in a corner. So when he is sent off to be a teacher for a school full of monsters, he knows only nightmares await him in A Terrified Teacher at Ghoul School!
Comedy With A Healthy Amount Of Monster Lore
The series is full of common comedy tropes, including the terror of even the smallest things, and a set of perverted jokes. The series also delves deeply into the different types of monsters, or “yokai”, and covers information about them. If this is included in the anime, it could be a great show that brings comedy and some education for those interested in the history and lore of monsters.
If you’re not sure if this series will be for you, it’s a good idea to look at some of the reviews and comparisons. Some fans who’ve read the manga, for example, suggest it’s pretty similar to Kakuriyo: Bed & Breakfast for the Spirits. Overall though, it’s a pretty niche story that may not work well for everyone, especially those looking for a story with a more solid plot.
Cast & Crew
In addition to some key visuals, the information released in early July also included the names of one cast member for A Terrified Teacher at Ghoul School! Ryouta Oosaka (Haikyu!!) will play the frightened teacher, Haruaki Abe. Katsumi Ono (Skeleton Knight in Another World) is the director, of Satelight Studio (Hellsing Ultimate).
Alongside the director, Deko Akao (Noragami) is in charge of the series composition. Natsuki is handling character designs, and the music is composed by Takahiro Inafuku.
Slated For An October Release
A Terrified Teacher at Ghoul School! is set to air sometime in October 2024. The anime adaptation was first announced in December 2023. So far, there have been no trailers or much information in the series, and fans will have to wait a little longer to get learn anything else.
The studio behind A Terrified Teacher at Ghoul School! has been rather quiet about the release for the last several months since their initial announcement. This key visual and some information on the team directing it is all that fans have to go on for now until the release date comes out, as well as a trailer perhaps.
More Updates To Come
When the anime was first announced, the manga artist Mai Tanaka was very excited to talk about it. Tanaka stated, “Thanks to the support and support of many people, A Terrified Teacher at Ghoul School! has been decided to be made into an anime! Currently, many people are working hard behind the scenes to make Yohaji an interesting anime!”
There’s been no information yet as to where A Terrified Teacher at Ghoul School! will be airing. However, with Crunchyroll releasing information on the anime and providing followers with updates, they’ll likely have the show when it comes out in October.
