Outer Banks broke out as a surprise hit for Netflix in 2020, transporting audiences sheltered in their homes to the wide open branches of the North Carolina coast. The teen adventure closed a three-season treasure hunt down earlier this year, and now we have new details about where Season 4 is headed next.

Season 3 of Outer Banks ended with an 18-month time jump, catching up with the Pogues after high school as they use their newfound treasure to fund their dreams. According to series creator Josh Pate, Season 3 concluded the first Outer Banks trilogy, and Season 4 will explore its main characters’ new normals and launch them on another treasure hunt.
The clean slate will serve as a launchpad to find the treasure of the infamous Blackbeard. A real historical figure known to frequent North Carolina shores, Blackbeard was just the name the Outer Banks writers needed to create a splash of intrigue in the Season 3 finale.
Blackbeard is a figure with ties to the outer banks, making him a natural choice for the world of the show. For Season 4, Pate promises that fans will experience a fresh take on the Blackbeard legend. As the Pogues pursue their next big score, Outer Banks is sure to supply its signature twists and turns to the legends that fuel it.
