Audiences are just a few months away from traveling on the next journey with the ever-adventurous Lara Croft as Netflix’s Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, an anime series, will begin streaming on October 10. Fans can expect to jump in where they last left off with the archaeologist as the production will pick up following 2018’s video game, Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Marvel and Mission: Impossible fans will likely recognize the voice behind the famous character as Hayley Atwell joins the production in the role of Lara Croft.

Returning to her solo roots, the Tomb Raider anime series will see Lara Croft bidding adieu to her friends from the last trilogy of video games and setting off on her own. However, she’ll soon find that all roads lead to home after she comes to discover that a Chinese artifact wielding unbelievable power has been stolen from Croft Manor. Lara Croft’s mission back home will take her on a globe-trotting journey from one tomb to another as she tries to catch up to the thief who shares a yet-to-be-revealed connection with her.
Along with the premiere date reveal, Netflix also dropped a teaser, giving audiences a taste of the vibrant and dangerous adventure that awaits them when the Tomb Raider anime arrives in the fall. Seeing it as fans never have before, the world of Lara Croft is perfect for an anime adaptation as she and her companions as well, as enemies, fit the bill for the style of animation. As we mentioned up top, Hayley Atwell will lead the voice cast of the Tomb Raider anime as the woman behind the adventures – Lara Croft. Along with appearing as Peggy Carter in a slew of MCU live-action productions, Atwell has a solid background in voice acting, having reprised her Marvel role for titles including What If…? and Avengers Assemble as well as Netflix and DreamWorks Animation’s animated sci-fi series, 3Below: Tales of Arcadia.
She’s also lent her talents to two Marvel-based video games – Captain Marvel: Super Soldier and Lego Marvel’s Avengers – and has credits in the animated feature film, Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway.

Beyond Netflix’s Tomb Raider anime, upcoming animated roles for Hayley Atwell include the Duncan Jones sci-fi feature, Rogue Trooper, which will see her join a call sheet with other names including Sean Bean, Matt Berry, and Aneurin Barnard.
On the live-action front, the actress is hard at work for projects on both the big and small screen. The actress will reteam with Netflix and join the star-studded cast of the critically acclaimed series Heartstopper, which will now be going into its third season. In the world of film, the star is set to appear in the upcoming eighth movie in the Mission: Impossible franchise, reprising her role alongside Tom Cruise.
