Netflix Superhero Hit Series Returns For One Last Adventure
Netflix has dropped the fourth and final series of its acclaimed comic book adaptation, The Umbrella Academy. The series follows a group of adopted superheroes and is based on the comic series of the same name by Gerard Way. Fans have been waiting patiently for this season to drop, and now you can watch the show in its entirety.
Lots Of Ground To Cover In Season 4
As previously teased in trailers for the fourth and final season, The Umbrella Academy Season 4 sees the Hargreeves siblings once again teaming up to save the world after being separated due to the events of Season 3. In addition to losing their powers as a result of their last battle, they also have to deal with the fact their father is the head of an evil business empire and a new organization known as the Keepers is also in the mix. It seems like a lot of different story-lines to wrap up in just six episodes, and based on fan reactions it seems like the fourth season may have bit off more than it could chew.
Final Six Episodes Met With Harsh Criticism
Each season of The Umbrella Academy so far has been met with critical acclaim and warm reviews from audiences, though it seems fans are borderline irate with the fourth season and how it wraps up the show. While critics gave the show’s final season a not-great 59 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, the audience score is currently sitting at an abysmal 17 percent. In fact, many of the show’s audience are urging fans to outright avoid watching the fourth season and just pretend the show ended with season 3.
Several critics echoed the audience’s sentiments about the final season of The Umbrella Academy, with Jen Lennon of The A.V. Club saying, “For a show that thrives on mess, the ending feels disappointingly neat.” Vicky Jessop of the London Evening Standard said, “It’s hard to shake the looming sense that this show left its best days behind it a few seasons ago.” While not every review completely shredded the fourth season, it’s certainly harder to find people who have nice things to say than those who hated it.
Not The Ending Fans Expected
It’s not often that a Netflix show is able to go out on its own terms like The Umbrella Academy, so it’s a shame to see that fans aren’t getting the ending they expected. The scathing reviews of the fourth season aren’t the only bad news for the show either, as the show’s co-creator, Steve Blackman, was accused of bullying and creating a toxic workplace behind the scenes. Overall, it seems like the final season of the show is a bit of a mess no matter how you look at it.
Don’t Be Discouraged In Checking Out The Series
With that being said, if you’ve never seen The Umbrella Academy and are intrigued by the concept, then you might enjoy the well-reviewed first three seasons. However, there will be the looming fact that a lot of the audience doesn’t like the ending while you’re watching. If you’re fine with watching shows that don’t stick the landing, then you may not mind checking this show out.

The final season of The Umbrella Academy stars Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castaneda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H.
