Arnold Schwarzenegger Series Gets Early Renewal At Netflix
Arnold Schwarzenegger's FUBAR has been renewed for a second season at Netflix.
Netflix has officially renewed FUBAR for a second season. Series star Arnold Schwarzenegger made the announcement during the streamer’s Tudum event in Brazil on June 17. Created by Nick Santora, the first eight-episode season made the top 10 list in approximately 90 countries following its release on May 25.
FUBAR follows Luke Brunner (portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger), a skilled CIA operative on the verge of retirement. However, his plans take an unexpected turn when he is tasked with locating a missing agent who happens to be his daughter, Emma (Monica Barbaro). This shocking discovery shatters Luke’s perception of their entire relationship.
Despite this startling revelation, the father-daughter duo must set aside their troubles and unite against a formidable evil that threatens their lives and everything they hold dear. Following its premiere, FUBAR became the most-watched show on Netflix that week. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it has since amassed 219 million viewing hours worldwide.
Along with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Monica Barbaro, the talented cast of FUBAR includes Jay Baruchel as Carter, Aparna Brielle as Tina, Andy Buckley as Donnie, Milan Carter as Barry, and Fortune Feimster as Ruth. This action-comedy series also features Barbara Eve Harris as Dot, Gabriel Luna as Boro, Fabiana Udenio as Tally, and Travis Van Winkle as Aldon.
During a recent interview, Barbaro shared insights about her off-screen rapport with Arnold Schwarzenegger, which mirrored their characters’ father-daughter bond. She described how their playful banter throughout the day built genuine chemistry on set. “It was kind of perfect because we would just give each other sh*t all day,” she said.
Barbaro also expressed gratitude towards Arnold Schwarzenegger for his openness, as he graciously allowed her to inquire about his time as an actor, fostering a deeper understanding and connection between them. “I think that helped us a lot to find that sort of familial chemistry,” the actress added. “He was also kind enough to let me ask him anything about his experience and all of that.”
The thrilling season one finale had viewers anxiously perched on the edges of their seats. Boro’s dramatic intrusion at Tally’s wedding led to a chaotic shootout that left everyone reeling. In the aftermath, Luke (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and Emma hastily gather their family, only to find Boro has exposed their true identities.
This revelation plunges the father-daughter duo into a desperate situation, necessitating drastic measures to ensure the safety of their loved ones. Additionally, the unanswered questions surrounding Tina’s unscathed CIA cover hints at the possibility of FUBAR exploring even darker and more intense storylines in the future.
Meanwhile, Arnold Schwarzenegger is set to appear in Kung Fury 2. Billed as a martial arts comedy, the film is directed by David Sandberg from a screenplay he co-wrote with Tyler Burton Smith. Set in 1985, Miami, the story follows Kung Fury (Sandberg) as he watches over this city with his Thundercops – a special police force from across history tasked with defeating the villainous Kung Führer.
When one of the Thundercops tragically dies, the group disbands, prompting a mysterious villain to emerge from the shadows to help Führer attain the ultimate weapon. As such, Kung Fury travels through space and time to save his friends, defend the sacred Miami Kung Fu Academy, and save the city. Along with Arnold Schwarzenegger, the cast features Michael Fassbender, Alexandra Shipp, and Ralf Moeller.
