The Best Netflix Movies For Vampire Lovers
The best vampire movies on Netflix include Night Teeth, Underworld, and The Invitation.
Vampires are having a moment again, and Netflix has plenty of films surrounding these classic blood-sucking monsters. Whether you prefer the sparkly heartthrobs of Twilight, the bloodthirsty beasts from Blade, or classic old Dracula, these should hit the sweet spot. Here are our picks for the best vampire movies on Netflix right now.
7. Dracula Untold
Kicking off the list is the granddaddy of all the vampires — Dracula himself. However, Dracula Untold on Netflix gives us an origin story for this historic figure that was first introduced in Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel. Luke Evans plays the titular character, starting out as Vlad “The Impaler” Draculea, who must become a monster his people fear to protect his kingdoms.
While this was supposedly going to tie into Universal’s now defunct ‘Dark’ cinematic universe, the film tells its own story.
It’s not necessarily the best Dracula film out there, but it’s a solid action flick overall. Luke Evans plays the role well, and there are enjoyable supporting performances from Sarah Gadon, Dominic Cooper, Art Parkinson, and Charles Dance.
6. The Invitation
Vampires are horror villains at heart, and so far, most of the movies on this list probably wouldn’t be considered strictly horror films. If you prefer your blood-sucking monsters to be extra scary, you would probably enjoy watching The Invitation on Netflix. The Invitation stars Game of Thrones‘ Nathalie Emmanuel as Evia, whose long-lost cousin, invites her to a fancy English wedding.
However, everything isn’t as it seems, and she uncovers a twisted family secret. This is the perfect palate cleanser if you want something that is creepy, suspenseful, and actually horror-tinged for your monster movie night.
5. Morbius
It’s Morbin’ time. No, Jared Leto doesn’t actually say this in the movie (or does he?), but this is undoubtedly the movie that spawned a million memes. Is it a good movie? No. Is it kind of fun and funny to watch? Yes, definitely. Morbius is part of Sony’s iffy Spiderverse franchise, and it does little to convince anyone their efforts are worthwhile.
Jared Leto plays the titular character who gains vampire-like powers through a desperate experiment to cure his blood disorder. Leto does well enough, though he is perhaps a little self-serious, but what makes the price of the Netflix admission worth it is Matt Smith hamming it up as the villain.
4. Underworld
Kate Beckinsale is probably best known as the badass vampire warrior Selene in Underworld, and you can check out the beginning of the franchise in the 2003 film on Netflix. The first film introduces us to this supernatural world where there is an ongoing world between vampires and werewolves.
Created by Len Wiseman, Kevin Grevioux, and Danny McBride, this film would go on to kick off four sequels, so this would be the perfect time to check out Underworld from top to bottom (even if all of them aren’t so great). The first one is arguably the best one, so it’s at least worth checking out.
3. Vampire Academy
For those who like to learn more about the different types of vampires and how they might exist in the real world, make sure to check out the 2014 film Vampire Academy on Netflix. This film follows Rose Hathaway (Zoey Deutch) as a Dhampir, aka a half-human half-vampire.
Rose’s job is to project a group of peaceful vampires called the Moroi from the much more bloodthirsty group known as the Strigoi. Along with Zoey Deutch, Lucy Fry plays a vampire for the first, but not last time on this list, while the rest of the cast is rounded out by Danila Kozlovskiy, Gabriel Byrne, Dominic Sherwood, Olga Kurylenko, Sarah Hyland, and Cameron Monaghan.
2. Night Teeth (2021)
For those looking to see more of the shadowy underworld of LA-based vampires, look no further than Night Teeth on Netflix. This film follows a young chauffeur named Benny, played by Jorge Lendeborg Jr., who unwittingly becomes entangled in a night of terror when he accepts a job driving two beautiful vampire sisters around Los Angeles.
The film, directed by Adam Randall, is a tense thrill ride and uses intoxicating visuals and a mysterious story to keep you on your toes the whole time. It also features great lead performances from Lendeborg Jr, Debby Ryan, and Lucy Fry, along with a solid supporting cast that includes Alfie Allen, Raul Castillo, Sydney Sweeney, Marlene Forte, Ash Santos, and Megan Fox.
1. Day Shift (2022)
Last but best is one of the newest movies on this list — Day Shift. The film stars Jamie Foxx as a hardworking dad working a pool cleaning job. However, this boring day-to-day is just a cover for his real job — taking out vampires. This Netflix film is a fun and thrilling ride all the way through, with Foxx turning in a great action-heavy performance. We also get a great supporting cast that includes Meagan Good, Karla Souza, Dave Franco, Snoop Dogg, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Steve Howey, Peter Stormare, and Scott Adkins.
