To many of us, Jeff Goldblum has always been a sort of God-like entity but Netflix is taking things to an even higher level for their upcoming series, KAOS. A newly released trailer teases the comedic hijinks that are to come on August 29 when Jeff Goldblum steps into the role he was born to play – Zeus aka the God of Gods. Centering itself around Greek mythology, the show will follow Zeus as he tries to regain his power from the humans who have turned their backs on him.

KAOS streams on Netflix starting August 29.

If you’ve ever questioned the likelihood of a higher power, the trailer for KAOS is for you. In it, Jeff Goldblum’s Zeus recounts his favorite types of natural disasters (number one is fire) and explains that if humanity isn’t scared, it isn’t worshiping him.

But all those life-taking catastrophes are about to come back to bite Zeus in the butt as his subjects down on Earth begin to turn their backs on him. Of course, this only angers Zeus more, and he prepares to wipe out the entire planet.

Jeff Goldblum also stars in Wicked, releasing in November.

KAOS follows the fallout of Zeus’ rash decision and how it not only affects humanity but how it brings the fight to his front door on Mount Olympus. Sure, the gods are strong but the will of mere mortals may prove to be stronger as Jeff Goldblum’s character will likely come to find out.

Starring in KAOS alongside Jeff Goldblum is a call sheet of impressive names including Janet McTeer (Velvet Goldmine), David Thewlis (the Harry Potter franchise), Cliff Curtis (the Meg franchise), and more.

The production is the latest project to come from Charlie Covell who’s likely best known for adapting the graphic comic series The End of the F***ing World into series form for Channel 4. Pulling on those darkly comedic roots, KAOS seems like the perfect follow-up for Covell to continue their career with.

Along with the silly yet sinister undertones of KAOS, it looks to also be a fun way to explore Greek mythology. Not only does Zeus take front and center courtesy of Jeff Goldblum but other familiar deities such as Hera, Poseidon, Hades, Medusa, Dionysus, Orpheus, Glaucus, and more will be given their chance to come to life in Netflix’s latest series.

Beyond KAOS, Jeff Goldblum will be continuing his run at playing supreme beings this fall when he appears alongside the star-studded cast of Jon M. Chu’s Wicked. The adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical will see the Jurassic Park franchise star appear as the Wizard of Oz himself.

KAOS Season 1 will be eight episodes long.

It’s there he’ll sing, dance, and gaslight the heck out of everyone alongside fellow actors including Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once), Cynthia Erivo (Harriet), and pop superstar Ariana Grande.

Right now, it’s unclear whether KAOS will just be a one-and-done production, wrapping everything up in a neat little bow by the Season 1 finale, or if it will go on to become two or more seasons. There’s only one way to find out and that’s by tuning into Netflix on August 29 to see Jeff Goldblum in all of his vengeful, chaotic glory.
