Netflix Gets Fan-Favorite Walking Dead Spinoff

First arriving on AMC in September of last year, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon threw fans for a loop when the David Zabel-created production saw the titular character inexplicably wash up on the shores of France. How did he get here? And what new adventures await him?

That’s precisely what the debut season unveils for audiences.

Without dropping any spoilers for those who may be watching it for the first time on Netflix, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon follows Daryl as he works his way through a Walker-infested France, killing zombies, ensuring a mysterious boy with ties to a cure stays safe, and making some new friends along the way. There are plenty of new obstacles for Daryl to face far across the Atlantic and away from the friends he made back in the days of the flagship series.

Filling out the ensemble cast of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is Clémence Poésy (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), up-and-comer Louis Puech Scigliuzzi (Show Me More), and more.

We know that we said no spoilers at the top and this isn’t really a spoiler considering the second season’s title is already focused on her but Daryl Dixon’s bestie, Melissa McBride’s Carol, also appears in the first season.

While it’s just a small part towards the tail-end of the installment, Carol will have a much bigger role to play when Season 2, dubbed The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol debuts next month.

For the most part, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon has received favorable reviews from critics. Many were happy to see Norman Reedus return to his role as one of the most beloved characters from the original series, as on-point with the character’s gruffness as ever. 

Outside of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, Norman Reedus has kept himself busy with a handful of other projects, primarily on the big screen.

The actor was recently spotted alongside Austin Butler, Tom Hardy, Jodie Comer, and the rest of the impressive ensemble behind The Bikeriders. Next, he’ll share the screen with Ana de Armas in the latest feature-length production to come from the bullet-flying world of John Wick in next year’s John Wick Presents: Ballerina.

Beyond The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, AMC has seen potential in several other spin-offs that feature the most notable characters from the series that started it all. Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan bring their love/hate relationship together as Negan and Maggie on The Walking Dead: Dead City, which is preparing to release its second season next year.

Meanwhile, audiences watched their favorite couple reunite when Danai Gurira’s Michonne Grimes moved mountains to find her husband, Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes, in The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. 

With The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’s second season on the way and a third one already confirmed, those who haven’t seen the zombie killer in action will want to get on it when the series lands on Netflix on August 19.
