Netflix Fantasy Anime Perfect For Dungeons And Dragons Fans

Delicious in Dungeon is based on the manga of the same name by Ryoko Kui and follows a guild that ventures into a dungeon to save their friend while cooking up various delicious meals along the way. But these meals just happen to be made from the monsters and strange ingredients they find during their dungeon raids. The story starts off with one of the guild members being swallowed by a dragon, and the guild frequently gets distracted by their meal-making on the way to save said friend.

The team frequently getting distracted by the actual task at hand already makes Delicious in Dungeon like a Dungeons & Dragons campaign, but the fully fleshed-out fantasy world with cool creatures also helps. The adventurers make mouth-watering dishes out of ingredients like mimics, scorpions, slimes, and more. As gross as the ingredients that go into these dishes are, the show always makes them look like the ultimate gourmet delight.

Delicious in Dungeon is also made by Studio Trigger (Kill la Kill, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners), which is a studio that rarely ever misses with whatever show it takes on. As you might expect from Trigger, the animation is top notch. It just makes that incredible food look even more delicious.

Delicious in Dungeon is also genuinely funny and features quirky characters that keep the good times going. Also, the episodic nature of the show makes it easy to just catch an episode here or there when you have time. Of course, it’s also an easy binge for those same reasons.

Delicious in Dungeon’s food sequences have become so popular that people are even making these dishes on social media. While some of them don’t turn out quite as well as they do on the show, it’s cool to see an anime like this make an impact. Although there hasn’t been a second season for Delicious in Dungeon officially announced yet, the popularity of the show means we’ll probably hear about it soon.
