Gear up for October, action fans, as Bad Boys: Ride or Die is rumored to have set its streaming debut on Netflix. While a date hasn’t been finalized, the return of the blockbuster franchise will likely snuggle in alongside other titles from Sony like Madame Web and The Equalizer 3. Starring Martin Lawrence and Will Smith, the action-packed feature was one of this year’s top performers at the box office and reinvigorated the fandom all over again.

Ride Or Die’s October Arrival

Bad Boys: Ride or Die

With last year’s historic writers and actors strikes pulling plenty of time away from the industry, many folks had counted out the 2024 box office as a place of financial ruin. However, the year started solidly with the arrival of Dune: Part Two, only to continue to heat up into the summer. With Bad Boys: Ride or Die setting its potential release on Netflix, one of the year’s biggest money-making movies is on the way to a living room near you.

The Best Buddy Comedy

Fans of high-octane, buddy comedy movies will absolutely need to tune in to Bad Boys: Ride or Die when it crash lands on Netflix next month. The film sees Will Smith’s Detective Mike Lowrey and Martin Lawrence’s Detective Marcus Burnett on another high-stakes mission, this time to ensure their late Captain, Conrad Howard (Joe Pantoliano), is forever viewed as a hero and not as the traitor that he’s been painted to be. The movie’s ensemble cast includes names like Vanessa Hudgens (The Princess Switch), Alexander Ludwig (The Hunger Games), DJ Khaled, and more.

Stepping back into the position of helmers following the success of 2020’s Bad Boys for Life, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, known collaboratively as Adil & Bilall, were the directorial duo behind the fourth installment in the franchise. The pair is also behind other feature-length titles including Rebel, Gangsta, and Black. Should you want to dip into their other Bad Boys offerings before Ride or Die arrives on Netflix, you can check out the third title which is now streaming on Hulu.

A Box Office Hit

As mentioned above, audiences flocked to cinemas to catch the latest Bad Boys movie on the big screen when it arrived in early June. The movie was a wonderful kick-off to what’s been a very profitable summer at the box office, earning nearly $404 million against its $100 million production budget. With the financial success of Bad Boys: Ride or Die in mind, the folks at Netflix are likely more than ready to have the movie available for their subscribers.

A Franchise That Knows Its Audience

On Rotten Tomatoes, the opinions of critics and audiences were very much split, with the former hitting the movie with a 65 percent approval rating while viewers were blown away enough to give it 97 percent on the Popcornmeter. While what critics have to say is undeniably important, the fact that Bad Boys: Ride or Die has a higher audience rating means that its word-of-mouth reviews are going to be what drive Netflix viewers to give the film a shot.

Coming Soon To A Netflix Near You

When it comes to a buddy comedy duo, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence have been in the business together for nearly three decades since the first movie exploded onto screens in 1995. Now, with Bad Boys: Ride or Die eyeing up its Netflix debut next month, fans can see the pair back in the saddle doing what they do best.
