Netflix Releases Avatar: The Last Airbender Poster And Fans Are Stunned

Bringing a beloved piece of anime to life is a challenging task, but judging by the poster, Netflix was more than up for the challenge. With eye-catching reds, blues, and oranges, and a glorious sunset falling over jagged peaks, it appears that audiences are in for a treat when The Last Airbender makes its way onto the platform. 

In Avatar: The Last Airbender, fans will watch as Water, Earth, Fire, and Air are ripped from their harmonious lives after the Fire Nation attacks and decimates the Air Nomads. There’s only one being that can help prevent the certain destruction of the world – the controller of the four elements known as Avatar. There’s just one problem – the newest Avatar has yet to reveal itself. On a mission to prove himself as the next in line, Aang hopes to return safety and peace to the nations.  

Starring in Avatar: The Last Airbender is a cast that includes Gordon Cormier as Aang, Ian Ousley as Sokka, Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai, Kiawentiio as Katara, Dallas Liu as Prince Zuko, and others. Previously holding writing and production credits on the series Sleepy Hollow and Nikita, Albert Kim joins the production as its showrunner, writer, and executive producer. 

Striking while the iron is hot, Netflix pushed forward with its live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender during a time when the original series is going through a resurgence. Finding itself now completely bingeable on streaming platforms, the series, which ran for three seasons in the early 2000s, has drawn in an entirely new following. With an already dedicated fanbase who were thirsty for more stories in the radiant universe, the live-action series is going to be a sure-fire hit for Netflix.

The Avatar: The Last Airbender poster was revealed by the streamer as part of their annual festival, Geeked Week, which acts as both a celebration and a teaser-fest with new projects dropping posters, trailers, and more. Along with The Last Airbender, fans have also received more info about other productions including the upcoming anime Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, the Millie Bobby Brown-led fantasy film, Damsel, and the Michelle Yeoh-led series, The Brothers Sun. With the week still chugging away, it’s only to be expected that there’s plenty more where that came from. 

As for when eager viewers can mark their calendars for the arrival of the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender, the streamer is still being cagey about a specific date but we know that it will grace our screens in 2024.
