Nathan Fillion is poised to add his charisma and talent to James Gunn’s upcoming DC superhero movie, The Suicide Squad. The Firefly and Castle star is set to play T.D.K., an as-yet-unidentified character from the DC universe of heroes and villains. Theories persist that he is playing some version of the ridiculous character Arm-Fall-Off-Boy, but we will have to wait and see just what his role will be when The Suicide Squad finally releases.
In the meantime, Nathan Fillion got his own spiffy poster for The Suicide Squad that you can check out right here:
And Nathan Fillion is not the only one who received such treatment. The stacked cast has all received their own posters that you can peep right here below. You will get a good sense of the colorful style and sense of madcap tone this new version of the Suicide Squad is going for with this marketing campaign. It certainly seems like James Gunn is bringing the same irreverent and kooky tone to The Suicide Squad that he has become known for with his Marvel Cinematic Universe entries.
Other than Nathan Fillion getting his own poster, maybe the most interesting bit of news to be revealed by these new posters has to do with the character of King Shark. Everyone else has cast names attached to their poster, but King Shark is conspicuously missing. We know that Steve Agee – who will also appear on-screen as the character John Economos – was the stand-in actor on set for King Shark. However, we also know that Sylvester Stallone and Taiki Waititi both have some unconfirmed role in The Suicide Squad. Could one of them be providing the voice for King Shark and the marketing does not yet want to reveal that? Both of them have very distinct voices and could prove to be a significant draw for some audiences.
There is no doubt that Nathan Fillion and the rest of the Suicide Squad are going to provide audiences with some truly memorable and bizarre characters. We are still anxiously awaiting the first real trailer for The Suicide Squad to get our best glimpse at exactly what this movie is going to be like. Could Warner Bros. and DC decide to drop it closer to the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League in an attempt to capitalize on the fandom’s energy? And if there are those who dislike Zack Snyder’s Justice League, The suicide Squad trailer could act as an example of how the DC universe is going to be able to provide very different kinds of R-rated superhero experiences.
We can’t wait to see Nathan Fillion and his criminal cohorts in The Suicide Squad. Writer/director James Gunn has said he was given complete creative freedom on the project and that Warner Bros. did not interfere or change anything during the process of making the movie. That alone sounds like a reason to be stoked for this movie. We will discover just what kind of madness James Gunn has unleashed upon the world of superhero cinema when The Suicide Squad debuts in theaters and on HBO Max on August 6.
