The brand-new Thor: Love and Thunder trailer has come rocketing into our lives. On top of being able to see the return of Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder, we also get our first look at the newly designed Star-Lord. Also, there is a quick shot of the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Well, minus Gamora of course. Also, we were treated to a quick look at the Russel Crowe portrayed version of Zeus. Yes, the Greek god is also part of Marvel’s continuity. While this is all exciting enough, one final moment has gripped us all. The teaser trailer ends on the most epic of moments. We finally get to see the very comic-accurate version of Natalie Portman as The Mighty Thor. You can see the trailer below:

Jane Foster aka The Mighty Thor took over the mantle of the Thor back in a run of Marvel comics dating from 2015 to 2018. The initial run was titled, Thor. This spawned an additional set of comics called The Mighty Thor. The run was written by Jason Aaron and Russell Dauterman handling artistry duties. Their run was highly successful and honestly one of the better arcs of Marvel Comics. Dr. Jane Foster lifts Mjolnir as Thor and becomes the Goddess of Thunder. Thor is no longer worthy of the hammer, thus leaving Jane to take over the mantle for some time in the Marvel comics continuity. The above trailer seems to follow The Unworthy Thor as Thor is now referred to as Odinson, and he attempts to figure out his place in the world. However, now we get to see Natalie Portman become The Mighty Thor. Honestly, she looks as comic accurate as one can get. You can compare the images below:

The above image shows how Jane Foster looks when she takes on the mantle of Thor. The new Goddess of Thunder holds some similarities to how Thor usually looks, only she opts to have a full-face mask, with the wings on either side. The wings on the mask for Thor only briefly happened in Thor: Ragnarok. Now comparing that to how Natalie Portman looks in the teaser trailer offers us an identical look.

Most of the elements are comic accurate. Natalie Portman seems to have the more live-action version of the armor, as her conductors are placed everywhere on her frontal armor, much like Chris Hemsworth’s Thor. However, we get the full-face mask with the W-like etching, blonde hair, and the wings on the mask on either side. Also, Jane seems to have a similarly styled belt as the comic version with three additional conductors on them as well. Taika Waititi has certainly done his homework when it comes to The Mighty Thor run from Marvel.

Thor: Love and Thunder will premiere on July 8th, and we will finally get to see how Jane Foster ties into the grand scheme of things as The Mighty Thor. If this is to be Chris Hemsworth’s final time portraying Thor, it seems to be in good hands. Natalie Portman looks amazing in her comic-accurate costume, and it could mean she will get even more time to play the titular hero in further entries. We can’t wait to see what Taika Waititi has in store for us.
