The Best Murder Mystery On TV Renewed For Another Season
Unsurprisingly, one of the best shows on Hulu has officially been given the go-ahead for another season. According to Deadline, the hit comedy Only Murders in the Building has been renewed for a fourth season. With the WGA strike coming to an end, it’s expected that the writers on the show will be meeting to begin work on the next season soon.
Only Murders in the Building wrapped a successful third season, and Hulu has picked it up for a fourth!
Only Murders in the Building is the hit series that stars Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez as three true-crime-obsessed strangers who start a true-crime podcast of their own after finding themselves wrapped up in solving a mysterious murder. The first season received fantastic reviews and high viewership and has maintained that quality and popularity through the two subsequent seasons. The third season premiere even had the most viewers of any scripted Hulu Original in 2023.
Only Murders in the Building Season 3 also saw two huge guest stars for the season in the form of Paul Rudd and Meryl Streep. The season followed Martin, Short, and Gomez’s characters as they investigated a murder behind the scenes of a Broadway show. The well-reviewed third season will also be going up for the Outstanding Comedy Series Emmy against fellow critically acclaimed shows such as Abbott Elementary, Barry, The Bear, Jury Duty, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Ted Lasso, and Wednesday.

Only Murders in the Building Season 3 is also up for the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Martin Short, Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series, and various Creative Arts Emmy Awards. Although the series has nabbed some of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards in the past, it has yet to take home any of the big nominations. This year could be the show’s best chance, but if not, the fourth season will undoubtedly be up for some awards.
Only Murders in the Building comes from co-creators and writers Steve Martin and John Hoffman, who also executive produce with Short, Gomez, Dan Fogelman, and Jess Rosenthal. The series has the claim of Hulu’s most-watched comedy original ever. It seems likely that 20th Television will continue to green-light new seasons of the shows as long as Martin and Hoffman are willing to make them.
Only Murders in the Building Season 3 is up for multiple awards, against some of this year’s best shows, but the quirky murder-mystery has a great chance at winning.
Only Murders in the Building has certainly had a who’s who of guest starts over the years, so it seems likely that we can expect some more major guest starts after Rudd and Streep’s appearance in Season 3. For now, there aren’t any details about the upcoming fourth season outside of the main cast presumably reprising their roles. With the WGA strike, no forward momentum on the series was able to be made until a deal was cemented, so we’ll likely be hearing more soon.
