Most Famous NBA Player Is Joining The Marvel Cinematic Universe?
Stephen Curry stated he would love to join Black Panther 3 if Ryan Coogler asked him.
Ryan Coogler knows how to bring out the stars in his movies, but he is also known for bringing in stars from the sports world too. Former Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman starred in Black Panther 2, and now world-famous basketball player Stephen “Steph” Curry could be cast in Black Panther 3. Curry stated, “You tell him [Coogler] if we can see if we can shoot it in the summer and find a nice role for me in that universe — absolutely.”
Ryan Coogler and Stephen Curry were part of a Q&A at the Sundance Film Festival for Steph’s movie, Stephen Curry: Underrated. An interviewer then asked a two-part question about Steph’s faith, but also if he would join the world of Wakanda, which garnered many laughs. However, Steph quickly stated that he would love to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe if his part was shot in the summer months when the NBA takes its break from competition.
Stephen Curry is one of the best basketball players in the world, as he currently plays point guard for the Golden State Warriors. Curry is known to be one of the best shooters that the game of basketball has ever seen, and transformed the game by showcasing what a great three-point shooter can do to change the offense of a team. Curry is currently a four-time NBA Champion and has been in the league for 13 years.
Considering that Stephen Curry plays for the Golden State Warriors, it would be interesting to see what kind of warrior role he would be given in this proposed partnership with Coogler and Black Panther. Again, Coogler has already worked with Usman, so we would imagine he would have no issues with bringing another superstar of the sports world into his sequel.
This is also assuming that there is going to be a Black Panther 3, which would not happen for at least a few years. Though the second installment brought in Shuri as the new Black Panther, we don’t know if that means Ryan Coogler is going to be working on another entry. We can assume that he is, as Black Panther is one of the most popular franchises within the MCU and adding Stephen Curry would be amazing.
There is the stipulation that Stephen Curry would need to shoot in the summer, which could also cause issues depending on when Ryan Coogler would indeed shoot Black Panther 3. Although Coogler was laughing right along with Curry in the interview, it is something that we could see happening. We also don’t know how well Curry can act, but his new documentary might put some of those worries to rest.
Stephen Curry: Underrated is a documentary that will focus on Curry’s lifetime career, including when Davidson College made a run for the NCAA Championship in 2008. Underrated also bounces to 2021, when the Golden State Warriors are attempting to rebound after the worst season, as they attempt to secure another NBA Championship. The new documentary is debuting at the Sundance Film Festival, but it will also be given a release on AppleTV+ later in 2023.
