Brazilian-born and Julliard-trained actress Morena Baccarin seems to have what it takes to make a big splash in Hollywood. Beauty, brains, talent. She has used all of the above to get her to where she’s at in her career. And if you were to ask her, she has some big plans for the future. But will she appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and could we see her reunite with Ryan Reynolds sooner than later?

MORENA BACCARIN WANTS TO BE IN DEADPOOL 3

While her Vanessa character had an interesting arc in Deadpool 2, by the end the door was more than left open for her to return to the franchise. At the beginning that didn’t appear like it would have been the case at all. After all, she dies at the beginning and the flick is propped up on Ryan Reynolds’ Wade/ Deadpool working to get over his grief.

But a Cable-produced time machine solves that issue by the end. Plus, we have Marvel’s Multiverse now, so all possibilities are on the table when it comes to Morena Baccarin’s character.

So the question fans want an answer to is: what about Deadpool 3? Well according to Baccarin, while she hopes there is a spot for her in the possible third movie, she has yet to be approached. Baccarin recently told PeopleTV‘s Couch Surfing, “I have no idea. Apparently, they’re still writing it. I genuinely don’t know. I have not been asked or approached. There’s been no conversations yet, so I’m waiting with bated breath.” She also added, hoping her role would be “As big as possible. I mean, he [Reynolds] will always be the lead, but I would love to be right by his side.”

Maybe it’s just us, but it would be hard to see Wade Wilson moving on without Morena Baccarin by his side.

In general, Morena Baccarin’s career had been building to a huge franchise like this, so it would be to many fans’ delight to see her make it into the Marvel Cinematic Universe when Deadpool gets into the mix.

MORENA BACCARIN WAS IN FIREFLY AND SERENITY

While Firefly was the series that turned heads, Morena Baccarin actually got started a bit earlier with a couple of features, Perfume and Way Off Broadway, that weren’t seen by many.

When it came to Firefly, she wasn’t creator Joss Whedon’s first choice for Inara Serra. But while filming the pilot, Whedon began to feel that the actress chosen, Rebecca Gayheart, wasn’t working. So he opened auditions for the part Baccarin would eventually fill. Morena played the role of Inara through the entire 14-episode life of Firefly.

Morena Baccarin would also come back to the Firefly universe in order to portray Inara in the feature film Serenity.

Morena Baccarin definitely opened eyes with her portrayal of Inara Serra. She turned that role into others including work on The O.C., Kitchen Confidential, and Justice before she climbed aboard another sci-fi adventure, Stargate SG-1. It was a recurring role that also saw her reprise in the movie Stargate: The Ark of Truth. Déjà vu all over again.

Morena Baccarin then jumped on the TV series Heartland, a short-lived one that then saw her move on to Numb3rs and Medium. This led her into her third sci-fi adventure, the TV series V. That series was about an extraterrestrial race that comes to Earth with what appears to be good intentions. No, they did not have good intentions. The series lasted two seasons.

Baccarin kicked around a few more series, most notably The Mentalist before she landed one her most memorable roles as Wade Wilson’s girlfriend in Deadpool and the sequel Deadpool 2.

SHE STARRED IN GOTHAM

How can we not mention her time on the hit series Gotham? We can’t. In what was first a recurring role in season one, turned into a full-time role for Morena Baccarin by the time season 2 came along.

As Dr. Leslie Thompkins, Morena Baccarin eventually became the love interest of James Gordon, played by Ben McKenzie. Fun fact, in real life Baccarin and McKenzie first became romantically linked on the show, then announced they were having a baby, and eventually married. They remain married.

MORENA BACCARIN WAS A BOND GIRL

Morena Baccarin had (and still may have) a goal. That was to be a Bond girl (though now they may be calling themselves Bond women). Why not?

The list of actresses who have portrayed Bond girls is impressive. Ursula Andress, Honor Blackman, Jill St. John, Jane Seymour, Barbara Bach, Halle Berry, Monica Bellucci. These are but a few of the iconic women to play iconic roles in a James Bond movie. So, can you blame Baccarin for wanting to join that list?

“I would love to be a Bond girl. That is on my bucket list, definitely,” Baccarin said in the past. And while that sentiment may still be true, she has also mentioned she’d be happy to play the lead and become the first female James Bond.

Morena Baccarin told The Talk, “I think pretty much like Bond, but female. I think why not. Have her do the same things. Have her have gadgets. Also, I think I like the idea of her being slightly emotionally vulnerable, but unable to make connections like he is. I think that’s fascinating…that would be fun.”

MORENA BACCARIN STARRED IN THE ENDGAME

In February 2022, fans get to see Morena Baccarin leading a brand new project. She’s playing criminal mastermind Elena Federova in NBC’s crime drama thriller The Endgame. After a number of high-profile bank heists, Elena is captured by the FBI, which is precisely what she wants. Soon, a complex tale unfolds, with Federova locking horns with Agent Val Turner (Ryan Michelle Bathé).

She was also a brilliant criminal mastermind who, even in captivity, orchestrated a number of bank heists. Ryan Michelle Bathe played Val Turner, a relentless FBI agent who was pulling out all the stops to foil Federova. Fans loved the show as it received an 83% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics, though, didn’t much care for it, and eventually, neither did NBC as they decided to cancel the series after one season.

SHE WILL STAR IN FAST CHARLIE AND GREENLAND: MIGRATION

The ending of The Endgame while disappointing freed her up for some work on the feature film side of the business. First up for her is the film Fast Charlie. In it, Baccarin stars opposite ex-James Bond, Pierce Brosnan and she took to her Instagram to let everyone know.

Not only does she have Fast Charlie waiting in the wings, but she has three more features lined up as well. She will follow Fast Charlie with Tropico, where she plays twins opposite Pedro Pascal and Willem Dafoe.

Then Morena Baccarin will be seen in the sequel, Greenland: Migration, where she returns with Gerard Butler as Allison and John Garrity. Together they will need to leave the safe haven of Greenland and traverse across the frozen wasteland that was once Europe to find a new home. Finally, she will be seen in Beast. In this film, Baccarin will play a woman on a deserted island, surviving a plane crash. In her struggle to somehow return to her children, she encounters an unexpected horror.

Why, you ask, are we thanking Morena? Well, she keeps an updated social media presence and Instagram is her main go-to. Sometimes it’s nice taking a peek behind the curtain of an actor’s life and Morena Baccarin gives just that. She loves to update her followers with her work, but she also has no problem firing off a picture or two of her family and friends.

She also doesn’t mind showing off a little bit of her relaxing time.
