Millie Bobby Brown Admits Stranger Things Is Holding Her Back
Millie Bobby Brown isn’t sad that Stranger Things is ending with its fifth season, as she feels like the hit Netflix series is holding her back. “Stranger Things takes up a lot of time to film, and it’s preventing me from creating stories that I’m passionate about,” she said in an interview with Glamour UK. “So I’m ready to say, ‘Thank you, and goodbye.'”
In a new interview, Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown says the series takes up too much of her time, and that she’s ready to say goodbye.
However, the sentiment isn’t fueled by malice. Millie Bobby Brown also admitted that playing Eleven in Stranger Things taught her to be a better actor.
“When it ends, I’m going to be able to still see these people,” she explained about the co-stars. But for now, the 19-year-old is focused on The Electric State, a post-apocalyptic movie from the Russo Brothers, in which she stars opposite Chris Pratt.
“To be able to go toe-to-toe with Chris Pratt! It’s a very exciting opportunity that I never thought I’d be able to have, to be able to be treated the same as him and to be looked at and respected the same as him on the set by the production, by the studio,” Millie Bobby Brown said. That respect was hard-fought, as the actress remembers being called stupid early in her career.
She recalled being criticized for talking over her Stranger Things co-stars during press tours as a 13-year-old. According to Millie Bobby Brown, she was accused of trying to steal the thunder and was dubbed an idiot and a brat.
“We’re kids – we talk over each other,” she explained. “I was just penalized for over-talking and oversharing and being too loud.”

“It’s hard to hear that at 13. You’re like, ‘I don’t want to ever talk again. I don’t want to be the loud person. In interviews, I couldn’t help but think of all the comments. So I just remembered to stay silent and speak when I was spoken to, even though I was dying to join in. I just felt it wasn’t my turn,” Millie Bobbie Brown continued.
These entertainment industry lessons critiques don’t seem to have harmed Millie Bobby Brown. Instead, she has grown into a compelling actress and savvy entrepreneur.
Through her globally recognized beauty brand, Florence by Mills, and her burgeoning production company, which has already achieved success with the Enola Holmes franchise, she’s in the process of building an empire.
Millie Bobby Brown exhibits both a sharp sense of humor and a profound sense of sincerity. She was brought up by her parents with the value of “loving intensely.” Her commitment to animal rescue work is unwavering. At 19, she is engaged to be married while being acutely aware that many people might consider her too young.
She is also enrolled at Purdue University, pursuing an online degree in human services, and hopes to use that education to bolster her role as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. However, there are parts of her life that make Millie Bobby Brown very human. She relies on her dog Winnie to provide comfort during panic attacks and contends with episodes of overwhelming insecurity.
Somehow, Millie Bobbie Brown powers through, just like the rest of us. She released her debut book, Nineteen Steps, on September 12, which draws inspiration from her family’s history.
The story is set on the backdrop of World War II and weaves a poignant tale of love, yearning, and sorrow. The book is available everywhere books are sold.

While awaiting the production for the final season of Stranger Things to resume, Millie Bobby Brown is enjoying quality time at home with her fiancé and pets. She previously likened the last season of the popular Netflix series to graduating from high school and eagerly anticipates the next chapter of her Hollywood journey.
Netflix announced the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, starring Millie Bobby Brown, in February 2022. According to the Duffer brothers, the upcoming season is expected to concentrate on the existing characters and may not introduce any new ones. The season is planned to include eight episodes, and the main filming was initially scheduled to kick off in May 2023.
The start date was indefinitely postponed due to the Writers Guild of America strike. Fortunately, on September 27, scriptwriting for the season resumed after a five-month hiatus. However, the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike may still lead to significant disruptions in the season’s filming schedule.
