Millie Bobby Brown Cried On The Set Of Stranger Things Season 4 For One Reason
Apparently, Millie Bobby Brown had some issues with a very particular scene in Stranger Things that actually brought her to tears

Stranger Things Season 4 was just released on Netflix to start the holiday weekend and fans were treated to a completely different format for the popular show. It ended up coming off more as a couple of movies than anything else, though was able to wrap itself up in a pretty epic fashion before things were all said and done. That being said, one of the main players didn’t have the best time on set when they were actually filming certain parts of the season finale. Millie Bobby Brown ended up breaking down and crying while taking part in some scenes, and honestly, it’s pretty easy to see why. They weren’t exactly for the faint of heart. Warning: some Stranger Things Season 4 spoilers coming in the next couple of paragraphs so steer clear if you haven’t finished with the season yet.
While speaking with Variety about the Stranger Things Season 4 Part 2 release, Jamie Campbell Bower was talking about some aspects of filming the finale moments and one, in particular, that was a bit too much for Millie Bobby Brown. He’s describing a scene near the end in which Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven is confronting Vecna, the evil alter ego for Bower’s Henry Creel/ 001, and how she must come face to face with the rather hideous evil wizard (so to speak). It was at that moment that being so close to the Vecna character took a toll on Millie Bobby Brown. Check out part of what Bower had to say about it.
“They brought her up into a position where she’s bound. I walked up to her (as Vecna) and she burst into tears. She wouldn’t look at me and she was visibly just disgusted by the whole thing…After she cried and I made it obvious that she knew it was me, one of the things she said was that, ‘I knew it was you when I could smell cigarettes,’ because I’m a smoker…”
I think most people would have had the same reaction as Millie Bobby Brown. The Stranger Things folks went out of their way to make Bower’s Vecna about as terrifying a character as we’ve seen on the small screen. The first part of the season dialed up the scares in this regard, making him a combination of evil demon and Freddy Kreuger, an association that was more than a little purposeful especially considering some of the other casting for the series. The original Kreuger, Robert Englund, plays his father, Victor Creel. The writers knew what they were doing here.
And the overall look and gestalt of Vecna were such that one can see why Millie Bobby Brown would have felt this way. After all, her character was one of the few who interacted with the Henry Creel/ 001 version of the character as an adult. Seeing him in this way was more than a little startling.
Overall, despite some of the disgust with actually coming up close to Vecna, Millie Bobby Brown and company were able to pull off a truly awesome finale to the fourth season. Bringing together all of the storylines into one pretty epic battle between the Party and ultimate evil, the Stranger Things folks were able to wrap up some story arcs while leaving the problems for the show wide open. Things are about to get a whole lot worse for this group before they get better. Let’s hope that Millie Bobby Brown can hold it together for the final season.
