Ark is based on the adventure video game Ark: Survival Evolved, which achieved immense success after its launch in 2015 by Studio Wildcard. The game sold over one million units in its first month alone.

Ark: Survival Evolved is a survival video game where players create bases, tame dinosaurs, and fend off threats. The game encompasses an open-world environment with a shifting day-night cycle. It can be played from both third-person and first-person perspectives.

Expansions and spin-off games have been added to the franchise, including Ark Park and PixARK. The announcement of the sequel, Ark 2, offers a continuation of the game’s journey, complemented by an associated animated series.

The plot of Ark revolves around the character Helena Walker, a 21st-century paleontologist. After finding herself revived on an enigmatic primeval island inhabited by prehistoric creatures, she is thrown into a world of unexpected adventures and exciting trials. Along the way, she discovers clues about the island’s true purpose and its mysterious creator, who goes by the name of “The One Who Waits.”

The series is a mix of science fiction, fantasy, adventure and survival elements. It also includes themes of mystery and exploration as Helena uncovers the secrets of the island.

The cast of Ark boasts the talents of various well-known actors. Among them, Vin Diesel and Michelle Yeoh are key cast members and have lent their voices to the animated series.

Vin Diesel is recognized globally for his outstanding work in the Fast & Furious series, but he also has a significant history in voice acting. Produced by Lost Continent Entertainment and Lex + Otis, Ark is a result of the collaborative writing efforts of Marguerite Bennett and Kendall Deacon Davis. Marguerite Bennett, a respected writer in the comic book industry, has penned Batwoman, Animosity, and Josie and the Pussycats. Meanwhile, Kendall Deacon Davis is an emerging writer who has previously worked on popular animated series such as Transformers: Rescue Bots Academy and Green Eggs and Ham.

The first part of this season, comprising six episodes, is currently available on Paramount+. The second part, consisting of seven episodes is yet to be released.
