See Mia Goth Rock A Black Minidress For Her New 1970s Horror Movie

Mia Goth is no stranger to showing off skin. Debuting in Melancholia-director Lars Von Trier’s Nymphomaniac in 2013 after working briefly as a model, Goth has proven herself to be anything but shy in front of the camera. According to a recent Twitter post, the new MCU actress is showing out again, this time in a recent shot from her upcoming A24 slasher film MaXXXine.
Coming from A24’s Twitter account, the post reads: “The life she deserves #MaXXXine”. The image of Mia Goth and Halsey is the first image from A24’s MaXXXine, which is a follow-up to the 2022 slasher flick X.
The image is of Goth and co-star Halsey. Goth is wearing a tight sparkling black minidress with fishnet tights, an emerald green jacket embossed with the name ‘Maxine,’ and oversized gold hoop earrings. Her hair is blown out into waves, and she is rocking a washed-out smokey-eye-meets-glam makeup look.
Next to Goth, Halsey is wearing a luxurious fur coat over an equally scant ruffled brown minidress that reveals a garter at the thigh, accessorizing with large dangling earrings and a lipstick red purse. Both of the women’s attire screams vintage 80s style. In fact, the whole image is bright, glitzy, and just a bit trashy, just like the best of the 80s.
Mia Goth experienced her breakthrough with the film after appearing in a number of films after Nymphomaniac, like The Survivalist, High Life, Suspiria, and Emma. Mia Goth is reprising her role for the third time after starring in X and its prequel Pearl, which Goth starred in and co-wrote with Ti West.
X starred Mia Goth alongside Scream 6’s Jenna Ortega and Scott Mescudi (Also known by his stage name Kid Cudi) as members of an adult film crew who arrive on location to find it is owned by an elderly couple. As the couple starts to make inappropriate advances on the members of the film crew, things soon turn from bad to worse, as the crew must fight for their survival. One of the compelling aspects of the film is Mia Goth’s dual role as both adult film star Maxine and elderly ax murderer Pearl.
Whereas the prequel Pearl focused on the origin story of the titular murderous character, Maxine will focus on the aftermath of X, with Mia Goth’s sole survivor character Maxine on a journey to make it big in the city of Los Angeles in the 1980s. Although other key plot points of the film are unknown up to this point, with A24 at the helm there are sure to be some beautifully cinematic and gory scenes in store.
Along with Goth and Halsey, the upcoming film will also feature Kevin Bacon, Emily in Paris’ Lily Collins, Elizabeth Debicki, singer Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, and Breaking Bad‘s Giancarlo Esposito. This seems to be a budding ensemble of compelling actors, although it remains to be seen what role each will play in the ensuing story.
Both X and Pearl leaned into the period aesthetic, and based on the image it seems like Maxxxine will do the same. If the image is any indication, it should be exciting to see Mia Goth in the glitzy, gory, 80s slash fest that this film is shaping up to be.
