The Megan Fox Thriller Leaving Netflix Is Her Best Movie
If you only know Megan Fox as “that chick from Transformers,” then you haven’t seen the full extent of her talents as an actress. Fox gives her all—and then some—in the 2021 thriller Till Death, in which she spends the bulk of the movie handcuffed to a corpse. If that premise sounds enticing, you need to hop on over to Netflix right away and check out Till Death before it leaves the streamer for good on October 1.

Till Death follows Megan Fox as Emma as she wakes up after a passionate night with her husband Mark (Eoin Macken) and finds herself handcuffed to him. Things go from bad to worse as Mark shoots himself, leaving his poor wife shackled to a corpse. Emma must now deal with not only her husband’s dead weight but a pair of assassins hired by Mark to take her out.
The movie was the feature directorial debut of S.K. Dale, who had previously worked exclusively in the realm of short films. Till Death was written by Jason Carvey, producer of the excellent VHS Massacre series of horror movie documentaries.
Megan Fox was the first actor cast for the film in February 2020. The rest of the film’s small cast—Callan Mulvey, Eoin Macken, Ami Ameen, and Jack Roth joined later in August of the same year.
Till Death was filmed in Sofia, Bulgaria, and like many of the films shot in or around 2020, was at one point delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The shoot was particularly rough on star Megan Fox. Rather than use a realistic dummy, Fox was required to drag around a Bulgarian stuntman across the floor for the entirety of the movie’s roughly monthlong shoot.
The Rotten Tomatoes critic’s consensus specifically calls out Fox’s “committed performance” as one of the film’s biggest assets.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, thanks to the stark time difference between the US and Bulgaria, Fox was dragging around this full-grown adult on only 2-3 hours of sleep.
Despite looking like the movie was shot on location in a wintry climate, the entirety of Till Death was filmed on a Bulgarian soundstage using fake snow. Callan Mulvey–who plays Bobby Ray, one of the assassins sent to whack Emma–sustained an eye injury back in 2004 and the director decided to include the injured eye in Till Death.
Screen Media Films purchased the distribution rights for Till Death in May of 2021—a year after Megan Fox first joined the project—and released the film the following month. On July 2, 2021, Till Death was given a limited theatrical release as well as a simultaneous VOD release.
Till Death holds a 90 percent critic score on Rotten Tomatoes and is currently Megan Fox’s highest-rated film on the site. As many Megan Fox stans have known since 2009’s Jennifer’s Body, the actress is far more than just a toned midriff for Shia LeBeouf to drool over. She just needs the right movie to show off her particular set of acting skills, and Till Death is definitely the right movie.
Fox is more than capable of selling the dire situation that Emma finds herself in while also perfectly nailing all of the physical demands required to make it look like she’s both exhausted from lugging around a dead body and full of adrenaline at the same time.

Megan Fox has had a tough go of things throughout her career in the public eye. Essentially blacklisted after she dared to disparage her Transformers director Michael Bay, Fox has been forced to mostly take roles in which her primary motivation is to look good for any guys watching. The one movie that bucked this trend was Jennifer’s Body, but that was a flop upon release and has only more recently earned the cult following that it’s always deserved.
The truth is Megan Fox has always been more talented than her studio-fabricated persona as a modern-day sex symbol lets on. Thankfully, a project like Till Death occasionally comes around and gives Fox an opportunity to showcase her true ability as a thespian. If you’ve ever wondered if Megan Fox could “actually act” go watch Till Death on and decide for yourself. You’ll need to hurry, though, because the movie leaves Netflix on October 1!
