Marvel’s New Trailer Proves Agents Of SHIELD’s Chloe Bennet Is Back In Shot Everyone Missed?
Agents of SHIELD breakout character, Daisy "Quake" Johnson, was spotted in the Secret Invasion trailer.
The new trailer for Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion is here, featuring Samuel L. Jackson‘s Nick Fury, and it’s giving people hope that Agents Of SHIELD fan-favorite character, Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet), will make her return. Fans are cautiously elated to see a split-second shot of a woman who could potentially be Daisy leaning over what looks like a body on a battlefield. But in a cinematic world full of aliens and artificial intelligence, it’s hard to know for sure if it really is the long-lost Daisy.
So, who is Daisy Johnson? The superhero character (played by Chloe Bennet) has been featured in Marvel Comics and was well known for her role in the six-season TV series Agents of SHIELD Daisy, also known as Quake, is a hacker who turned Inhuman, giving her the powers to manipulate vibrations to create earthquakes.
When we last saw her in Agents of SHIELD, Daisy had just finished an epic fight scene between her and Nathaniel Mallick (played by Thomas E. Sullivan). The two were both killed, but Daisy got brought back from the dead by her older sister, Kora. So it’s not impossible that the woman featured in the Secret Invasion trailer is Daisy, but it could also be Marvel Cinematic Universe’s G’iah, played by Emilia Clarke.
When Agents of SHIELD was canceled in 2020, many fans were devastated to lose their favorite character, Daisy. In addition to her, they also lost the characters Melinda May, Jemma Simmons, Leo Fitz, and many more. It begs the question, will other characters from Agents of SHIELD make the jump from the previous TV series into this new show?
What we do know for sure is that Samuel L. Jackson will continue—and perhaps bid farewell—to his role as Nick Fury in the new Marvel series, Secret Invasion. Nick Fury was last seen in a post-credit scene after Spider-Man: Far From Home, where he was flying off into space with shape-shifting aliens called Skrulls. The new trailer for Secret Invasion shows him visiting his grave and promising that he will come for one last fight, leading many people to think it will be a fight between Earth and a villainous group of Skrulls, compared to the refugees from Captain Marvel.
If Secret Invasion follows the comic book storyline, then we can expect to see a Skrull invasion, which should include the Agents of SHIELD hero Daisy. The Inhuman character is known to have a significant role in the fight against the invading Skrulls, so it would only make sense if Chloe Bennet reprised her role to join in on the fight.
Though Chloe Bennet is not listed as a cast member for Secret Invasion, there are many familiar faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe that we can expect to see. Emilia Clarke will be making her MCU introduction as G’iah, a character we’ve seen before in child form in Captain Marvel, Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, Martin Freeman as Everett Ross, and Don Cheadle as James Rhodes, to name a few (via IMDb).
The first episode of the highly anticipated new TV series will be airing on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, exclusively on Disney+.
