Marvel’s Biggest Upcoming Star Is Joining DC
Brett Goldstein, who recently appeared as Hercules in Thor: Love and Thunder, has landed a role as himself in Harley Quinn's upcoming Valentine's Day special.
Roy Kent — he’s here, he’s there, he’s every f***ing where! Ted Lasso’s Brett Goldstein made a huge Marvel cameo last year at the end of Thor: Love and Thunder, and now he’ll be hopping over to the DCU for a quick but sexy cameo. Gizmodo reported that Goldstein will appear as himself in the upcoming Harley Quinn: A Very Problematic Valentine’s Day Special.
The animated adult-comedy Harley Quinn is one of the few surviving properties from the previous DC regime. After the Warner Bros. Discovery merger and the James Gunn/Peter Safran takeover, many shows and movies could have been victims of the DCU purge. Fortunately, Harley Quinn wasn’t one of them, and now we’ll get to see Brett Goldstein appear in a Valentine’s Day special.
The Harley Quinn: A Very Problematic Valentine’s Day Special already sounds like a wacky and appropriately raunchy time. The premise for the special is that Quinn umm — satisfies her partner Poison Ivy so much that Ivy releases pheromones throughout Gotham City that make all of the citizens horny. According to the brief screenshot of Brett Goldstein’s cameo, he’ll be reading the works of Lord Byron shirtless while polishing his trophy.
Hopefully, Brett Goldstein’s hilarious cameo in Harley Quinn won’t prevent him from playing any big DC roles in the future. Since it doesn’t seem like Harley Quinn is considered part of James Gunn’s main DCU storyline, it’s probably safe to say that he could take a role elsewhere. If not, he always has his big MCU role to fall back on.
As mentioned, Brett Goldstein made a surprise appearance at the end of Thor: Love and Thunder as Hercules. Russell Crowe’s Zeus was still pretty upset over Thor pulling knocking him down a peg, so we might be seeing Goldstein face off against Chris Hemsworth’s Thor sometime in the MCU future. Of course, Hercules has also been a part of the Avengers in the comics, so it’s possible that could become begrudging allies as well.
With plenty of MCU projects on the way, there’s hope we could see Brett Goldstein pop up as Hercules in the next couple of years. Hopefully, we’ll get to see more of his character before Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. It would definitely be cool to see his character fighting alongside the Avengers in a major crossover event.
Of course, Brett Goldstein is also returning to his fan-favorite breakthrough role in Ted Lasso this year. The beloved Apple TV+ series about a perennially cheery football-turned-futbol coach is finally returning for a third season. We don’t have a precise release date for the series yet, but it’s slated to come out sometime in Spring 2023.
Brett Goldstein is also a writer on Ted Lasso along with Bill Lawrence. If you can’t wait for Season 3, you can check out their other new Apple TV+ series Shrinking, which is currently streaming new episodes on Fridays. The Jason Segel and Harrison Ford-starring series has the first three episodes available with the next set to hit Apple TV+ on February 10.
