What Is Going On With Marvel’s Fantastic Four Casting?
Marvel’s The Fantastic Four cast is getting bigger and better. After a series of casting announcements last week, Natasha Lyonne has also been announced to join the cast. Lyonne is best known for her roles in Russian Doll and the recent Rian Johnson-created Poker Face series.
Natasha Lyonne Joins The Fantastic Four
While we don’t know who Lyonne will play in the Fantastic Four, she will be joining other recently announced cast members, John Malkovich and Paul Walter Hauser, who also have undisclosed roles. We also learned last week that Ralph Ineson (Game of Thrones, The Green Knight) will be portraying the villain Galactus. Before that, we learned that Julia Garner would be playing Shalla Bal, a character who has taken on the mantle of Silver Surfer in the comics.
An Eclectic Cast
The Fantastic Four has been hit with a flood of cast announcements in just the last couple of weeks, and it’s quickly turning out to be one of the most eclectic casts in the MCU. You have a mix of big-name stars, acclaimed character actors, and up-and-coming stars who have received critical acclaim for their TV efforts in recent years. Even the main cast is an eclectic mix of rising and established stars.
Established Stars And Rising Names
You have Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, a veritable superstar thanks to his roles in The Mandalorian and The Last of Us in recent years. For Sue Storm/the Invisible Woman, you have Vanessa Kirby, who had a respected career over the last decade, including an impressive action resume thanks to the Mission: Impossible series. And then Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm/Human Torch) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm/The Thing) round off The Fantastic Four main cast after both having recent star-making turns in the critically acclaimed shows Stranger Things and The Bear, respectively.
Supporting Cast Of Character Actors
We’re slowly seeing The Fantastic Four’s supporting cast being filled out with fan favorites like John Malkovich, Julia Garner, Paul Walter Hauser, and now Natasha Lyonne. It seems likely that the MCU isn’t done with these hype-casting announcements either. With the movie not coming out until 2025, there’s plenty of time for more players to be revealed.
This also means that fans will have plenty of time to speculate who these Fantastic Four cast members will be playing. Some theories suggest that Malkovich could play the villain known as The Wizard and that Hauser could play Mole Man. Perhaps Lyonne could also play a villain.
The Plot Is Still A Secret
In any case, it would be a shame if this The Fantastic Four cast was underutilized, so hopefully, Marvel is giving them some roles with decent screen time. For now, there’s still a lot of mystery around the movie, as Marvel keeps the plot and other details pretty close to the vest. With both Galactus and Silver Surfer’s involvement confirmed it does seem like we at least have the main villain figured out.
We’ll have to wait and see who else is added to The Fantastic Four cast. The film is directed by WandaVision’s Matt Shakman and is set to come out on July 25, 2025. Stay tuned, and we’ll keep you updated when more details are announced.
