Marvel Star Kills Any Hopes Of Season 2
Tatiana Maslany says it’s unlikely that the Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law will get a second season. When asked about the possibility of new episodes during an appearance on NerdIncorrect’s Twitch live stream, the actress who played the titular hero in the series said, “I don’t think so. I think we blew our budget, and Disney was like, ‘No thanks.'”
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Not Returning?
Marvel has been very selective about approving additional seasons for its live-action Disney+ series, and so far, only Loki has been granted a second outing.
While the future of She-Hulk remains uncertain, Maslany has talked about her character going forward, revealing that she would love to see her in “a totally different scenario” or “different universe.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law premiered on Disney+ in August 2022. Consisting of nine episodes, the story follows Jennifer Walters, a lawyer who gains superhuman strength after receiving a blood transfusion from her cousin Bruce Banner/The Hulk.
Unlike Bruce, Jennifer retains her intelligence and personality when she transforms into She-Hulk.
Mixed Reviews For She-Hulk
Each installment sees Jennifer balance her legal career with her superhero alter ego. The series received mixed reviews from viewers and critics, with some praising the show’s humor and Tatiana Maslany’s portrayal of Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk.
Others criticized the show’s limited budget and attempts to infuse Jen’s story with dated girl boss energy. The unconventional season finale was particularly controversial.
Other Marvel Series
In 2019, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige hinted at the integration of Disney+ characters into the MCU’s theatrical releases.
At the time, that included Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk. However, the absence of an official announcement leaves fans wondering whether Jennifer Walters’ solo adventures will continue on the small screen or have ended completely.
Original Plans For She-Hulk Season 2
Despite the uncertainty, in 2021, She-Hulk showrunner Jessica Gao revealed that when pitching the show, she already had ideas for a potential second season.
She emphasized the importance of planning a complete story while leaving the door open for future developments. At the time, she hinted at a well-thought-out story that could seamlessly transition into additional seasons if given the opportunity.
She-Hulk An Avenger?
If She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Season 2 doesn’t materialize, Jennifer Walters has promising avenues in the larger MCU.
Avengers 5 and Secret Wars, two highly anticipated projects, are expected to showcase a multitude of MCU heroes. With her unique blend of legal prowess and superhero abilities, Jennifer Walters could find a natural place among the ranks of the New Avengers.
Another possibility involves her teaming up with Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk in a rumored World War Hulk adaptation, although nothing has been officially confirmed.
With several Hulk-related characters making appearances in Captain America: Brave New World, She-Hulk could potentially join this roster, securing Tatiana Maslany’s future as a central figure in the MCU’s Hulk legacy.
She-Hulk’s Run
Created by Stan Lee and John Buscema, She-Hulk made her Marvel Comics debut in 1980’s Savage She-Hulk #1. She-Hulk’s versatility is evident as a member of the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and A-Force, actively participating in Marvel crossover events.
With various solo series, her stories, combining superhero action, legal drama, and humor, have solidified her popularity over the years.
