When Marvel’s Daredevil series on Netflix first came out, people were wondering if they could recreate the success and quality of the Marvel films on TV. Those doubts were quickly silenced when we got the one-shot of Daredevil taking out bad guys in the hallway fight in the second episode. Now it looks like we’ll be getting more of those fights with Daredevil: Born Again, as star Charlie Cox recently confirmed, “Yes, those fans who are excited by that will not be disappointed,” when asked about continuing the tradition of the Netflix fight scenes.

The Hallway

Each season of the original Daredevil Netflix series had a show-stopping “oner” fight sequence, where the entire fight seemingly takes place in one continuous camera shot. Realistically, clever editing, fight blocking, and camera movements allow it to look like one continuous shot. But regardless, the end result is always infinitely cool, and many fans were hoping to see more of it in Daredevil: Born Again.

Saying Everything Right About Daredevil: Born Again

These oner fight sequences have some of the best fight choreography out of anything we’ve seen from Marvel, both from the films and the TV shows. It’s a little baffling that no other Marvel shows or movies opted to use these after they were so praised in Daredevil, but it seems like Daredevil: Born Again is aiming to please fans of the original show by ensuring their inclusion. So, whether the story lives up to expectations or not remains to be seen, but at least we can count on there being a cool fight scene or two.

Returning Faces

Charlie Cox’s comments about the oner fight sequences returning for Daredevil: Born Again are certainly reassuring, especially since the original version of the show was completely scrapped. Reportedly, Marvel didn’t like the direction the show was going and they decided to do a complete creative overhaul. Part of that overhaul also meant bringing in characters from the Netflix series like Foggy Nelson, Karen Page, and Frank Castle aka the Punisher.

Daredevil Sets The Standard Again

Of course, Charlie Cox will be reprising the titular role in Daredevil: Born Again, though this won’t be his first appearance in the MCU. Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin were the first Netflix characters to make the jump to the MCU, appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Hawkeye, respectively, in December 2021. This is fitting since Daredevil was the first out of the Netflix shows that included Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist.

Arriving Next Year

Charlie Cox also reprised his role in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and Echo. There’s hope that other Netflix heroes like Jessica Jones and Luke Cage might return in Daredevil: Born Again, but that remains to be seen. For the time being, fans can at least take solace in the fact that the beloved oner fight scenes are back.

Despite the complete creative overhaul of the show, we won’t have to wait too much longer to see Daredevil: Born Again. The series is set to premiere on Disney+ in March 2025. In the meantime, you can catch the next MCU project, Deadpool & Wolverine, in theaters on July 26.
