Marvel Star Teases Return In Thor: Love And Thunder

The thing about superheroes, on-screen or for comics, is that people can return at any point. They could be dead and brought back to life or simply take a hiatus only to walk right back into the story. Due to a cameo in the latest episode of the Marvel show Loki, it is reconfirmed that Jaimie Alexander is set to reprise her role as Lady Sif in Thor: Love and Thunder.
The Marvel star was last seen in Thor: The Dark World. Her cameo in Tom Hiddleston’s series gave her a couple of scenes as a punishment for the mischievous character by the Time Variance Authority.
To celebrate the occasion of returning to Marvel since 2013 (or 2015 if you look at Agents of Shield), Alexander posted on her Instagram while in costume. You can see that post below.
She made another post regarding the Disney Plus show with her and a coffee mug from the Time Variance Authority, giving a big hint to her Marvel show appearance. You can see that post below.
The statement rings true that Asgard is its people. What rings even more true is another tease on her Instagram story about her time back in Marvel. As stories only last a day, we were able to maintain it by other reports from earlier this week. Alexander said on the Instagram video that she has returned and is “here to stay.”
Her absence from Thor: Ragnarok, Infinity War, and Endgame make it seem like she has died, either by the apocalyptic event or Thanos’ crew. While not seeing her is unusual, Deadline did report definitively that she will appear in Thor: Love and Thunder, so Marvel will have to cough up an explanation on how she survived these deadly incidents.
Lady Sif is not the only character to magically stop appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman, showed up in the first two Thor movies, then stopped. We got to see a glimpse of her in Endgame from old footage, but she has not stepped on set for a new entry of the franchise since Dark World. That is about to change as it is confirmed she will be a leading role in Love and Thunder. In the comics, she survives cancer by wielding Mjölnir and turning into Mighty Thor. We don’t know what is planned to get her from being an ordinary citizen to being on the same power level as her ex; outside of that, it is happening.
With big plans for once smaller characters who made brief appearances, Lady Sif could have the same treatment as Thor’s ex-girlfriend. It is uncertain as Marvel likes to take its time with its characters. People can go from a side character with a few scenes to being a star like Kat Dennings reprising her Thor role as Darcy Lewis and Randall Park reprising his role from Ant-Man as FBI agent Jimmy Woo in WandaVision.
We will know for certain next year as Thor: Love and Thunder will hit theaters on May 6, 2022 with Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster/Mighty Thor, Christian Bale as the villainous Gorr the God Butcher, Russell Crowe as Zeus, and of course, Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif.
