See Marvel And DC Counterpart Characters Merged In Stunning Art
Marvel and DC fanart combining heroes with their contemporary is amazing to look at, but there will be no Amalgam Universe in live action.
Marvel and DC have been rivals since the early days of comic books, when the success of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, and Green Lantern caused their adversary to jumpstart the Marvel Age of Comics in the 60s with the Fantastic Four, Hulk, and Spiderman. These characters went along with earlier characters created by Atlas and Timely Comics, which eventually became Marvel, like Captain America, The Winter Soldier, and Namor. While these characters were always in competition with each other, Instagram artist Lantern Flix has bridged the gap by creating character mashups that have fans begging for a live-action crossover of heroes and villains.
The first in the carousel of mashup artwork is a combination of The Flash and Quicksilver, two speedsters who mimic each other’s powers in the comics. Flash is a metahuman whose powers were developed following an accident in a lab that mixed together and gave the character access to what is called the Speed Force. Quicksilver is part of the mutant population in the Marvel Comics Universe; as the son of Magneto (sort of) and the twin brother of Scarlet Witch, his speed is part of his mutation, not a freak accident.
The next Marvel mashup with a DC character is the battle of the big bads, with Marvel’s Thanos combined with DC’s Darkseid. Thanos, known as the Mad Titan, is one of the more formidable villains in all of Marvel as he looks to cause devastation throughout the universe to impress his true love, Death. Darkseid is perhaps the only DC villain that can give the Justice League a run for its money as he searches for the Anti-life equation; the latter has unfortunately never had a chance on the big screen the way the former has.
The next image is a stunning combination of archers, featuring Marvel’s Hawkeye and DC’s Green Arrow. They are both known for their trick arrows and inability to miss their targets, but while Hawkeye is theorized in some storylines to be a mutant, Green Arrow gained his skill thanks to five years on a dangerous island. Clint Barton/Hawkeye made the jump to the mainstream thanks to his appearance in the MCU, while Oliver Queen/Green Arrow anchored the CW’s massively successful TV franchise.
Next, we come to an inspired pairing of Marvel’s Deadpool, which was initially conceived as a competition, and parody of DC’s Deathstroke. Where Deathstroke is brooding and a deadly adversary to many of DC’s heroes, Deadpool is a wacky distraction even in his own storylines. Present in the mashup is the main weapon they have in common, a sword strapped to his back.
The next to last mashup we have from Lantern Flix is the battle of the anti-heroes of the night with Marvel’s MoonKnight and DC’s Batman. The two characters are very far apart in their looks and their powers, as Moon Knight is donned in all white and possesses supernatural powers, while Batman is in all black with only his intellect and fortune. But their combination creates a formidable creature not to be trifled with in a dark ally.
Finally, the combination of Marvel’s Dr. Strange and DC’s Dr. Fate is the battle of two master wizards, and both with elevated education, apparently. While Marvel’s version of the sorcerer is well known to massive audiences thanks to Benedict Cumberbatch and the MCU, DC’s only now got his introduction on the big screen by Pierce Brosnan in Black Adam. Whether you like Marvel or DC or you’re an unbiased fan of both, this collection of mashups has us all screaming for the characters to meet on the big screen as soon as possible.
