Marvel Is Trying To Revive Comic-Con With Mega Stars
Since the 1970s, San Diego Comic-Con has been one of the biggest stages for debuting new comic books, fantasy, and sci-fi. The manifestation had a massive impact on Star Wars back in 1976 and still continues to influence and promote both established and newly-created franchises with its legendary Hall H presentations. This year, Marvel will have not one but two Hall H presentations at Comic-Con because the event coincides with the release of Deadpool & Wolverine, meaning Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Shawn Levy will be present.
A Deadpool & Wolverine Panel
According to Marvel head Kevin Feige, the audiences will have plenty of fun stuff to see during the studio’s Saturday presentation at the traditional Hall H panel. However, he added that not many people actually know that Marvel is going to be in Hall H on Thursday as well. This means that the Thursday panel is going to be dedicated to the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine movie—featuring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman—while the second panel, the one on Saturday, is going to reveal the future MCU releases. So, how are there two Marvel Comic-Con panels?
Quality Over Quantity
It’s true that two Marvel Comic-Con panels are an unusual occurrence, but Deadpool & Wolverine is actually the only MCU movie being released this year, and it features two characters who previously weren’t part of the MCU. It would seem that Disney took their newly established “quality over quantity” policy seriously. Whatever the case may be, Deadpool and Wolverine’s debut in the MCU has been hinted across the multiverse of MCU movies, starting with Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.
Possible Continuity Explanation?
All we know for now is that Deadpool & Wolverine are most likely a multiverse adventure that should somehow connect to the MCU continuity, but the exact mechanics behind that remain unknown for the time being. There’s some involvement from the TVA from Loki, and we can see the iconic duo jumping through one of Doctor Strange’s portals, but how everything connects to the MCU remains unclear, so one of Marvel’s Comic-Con panels is likely to mention a connection between these releases.
Still Waiting On A Big Reveal
As for the showcase side of the event, the Marvel Comic-Con presentation also remains a mystery. The company dropped a Captain America: Brave New World trailer, which features a rewritten character, which Marvel could’ve saved for the Hall H presentation, but it hadn’t done so. Captain America and Deadpool & Wolverine are the two biggest releases right now, and considering that one had its trailer released days ago and the other is getting its own separate presentation, Marvel is likely planning to showcase something huge at the upcoming Saturday Hall H presentation.
Upcoming Teaser Is A Mystery
A few things come to mind, but none is as big as the troubled Avengers 5, previously called The Kang Dynasty. That particular movie still doesn’t have a name, but if we were to bet, Marvel would likely go with the previously announced Secret Wars. We’re not saying that the movie will be teased or announced during the upcoming Marvel Comic-Con panel, but we’d keep our minds open to the possibility of such a thing happening.
