Margot Robbie’s Suicide Squad Is No Longer The Worst DCEU Movie
Margot Robbie's Suicide Squad has long held the title of worst-ranked DC Extended Universe film on IMDB. That is, until now.

The quality of films in the DC Extended Universe has varied wildly since 2013’s Man of Steel. There have been a few highs, but even more lows in this series that hasn’t quite nailed the connected universe as well as other studios. Looking at several different review aggregate sites, the lowest film in the DC Extended Universe is quite often 2016’s Suicide Squad, which featured DCs biggest cast with stars like Will Smith, Margot Robbie, and Jared Leto. But on IMDB, a new film has claimed Suicide Squad’s title as the worst DC Extended Universe film.
Wonder Woman 1984 was only released last week, yet the new film from director Patty Jenkins has already become the lowest-ranked DC Extended Universe film on IMDB, beating the low-ranked Margot Robbie-starring Suicide Squad. While reviews for Wonder Woman 1984 started off strong, the film has lost its Certified Fresh ranking on Rotten Tomatoes since its release, and its numbers keep sinking, despite positive streaming and box office numbers.
However, as opposed to most review aggregate sites, IMDB is fully voted on by fans, not critics. IMDB has had past experiences of some members intentionally review-bombing certain films, and while that might not be the case with this film, it’s certainly been a problem for the site in the past. Currently, the highest-ranked film in the DC Extended Universe is 2017’s Wonder Woman, which holds a 7.4 ranking. As of right now, Margot Robbie’s Suicide Squad is sitting at a 6.0 rating, while Wonder Woman 1984 has received a 5.7 rating, with over 76,000 ratings.
Yet in checking review aggregate sites that collect critic reviews, Wonder Woman 1984 isn’t doing nearly as bad. On both Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic, Margot Robbie’s Suicide Squad is still the worst-ranked film. Rotten Tomatoes has the film at a 26%, while Metacritic is slightly more favorable with a 40 ranking. On both sites, the first Wonder Woman film still stands at the top, with Rotten Tomatoes giving Wonder Woman a 93%, and Metacritic giving it a 76.
Comparatively, on Rotten Tomatoes, Wonder Woman 1984 is at a 63%, although that number has continued dropping over the last few days, while Wonder Woman 1984 has a 59 on Metacritic. Even though Margot Robbie might be last on Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic with Suicide Squad, her 2020 film Birds of Prey is currently the highest-ranked DC Extended Universe film for this year on all three sites, with both Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic listing is as the third highest-ranked DC Extended Universe film of all-time.
But DC still has big plans for Wonder Woman, as the studio recently announced that Gal Gadot and Patty Jenkins would be returning for a third Wonder Woman film. DC has said the film is fast-tracked, although Jenkins’ involvement with the newest Star Wars film, Rogue Squadron, could possibly delay Wonder Woman 3 more than expected. Next year, DC will also try to fix the stain that was left behind with Margot Robbie’s low-ranked Suicide Squad with the series reboot/sequel The Suicide Squad, directed by James Gunn. Hopefully, this take on the Suicide Squad won’t be as bad as the last one.
