Margot Robbie Offered Susan Storm Role In Fantastic Four
Margot Robbie has been offered the role of Sue Storm in The Fantastic Four.
Ever since the MCU’s Fantastic Four was announced, fans have been fan-casting all four of Marvel’s first family and guessing who might officially be cast. According to scooper Daniel Richtman, we may have the Sue Storm piece of that puzzle soon, as Margot Robbie has been offered the role. However, Richtman reported that Robbie was merely offered the role, not that she has accepted it.
Still, if Margot Robbie ends up taking the role of Sue Storm, that would be a massive boon for the long-anticipated film, as Robbie has the star power along with being the perfect fit for the character. Richtman has also previously reported that Adam Driver is rumored to play Reed Richards, and Paul Mescal has been offered the role of Johnny Storm. These three alone would likely be enough to get people to show up to the film in droves.
However, if Margot Robbie decides to decline the role, there are others reportedly being considered, including Mila Kunis, Jodie Comer, and Allison Williams. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see if Robbie decides the role is right for her. Whoever joins the Fantastic Four film would likely be a huge player in the MCU going forward, so it’s not a light commitment to say yes.
It would be understandable if Margot Robbie was hesitant to accept the role, considering she would have to take on double-duty acting for both the MCU and the DCU. Of course, we also don’t officially know if Robbie will continue to play Harley Quinn going forward. While James Gunn has indicated that he loves working with Robbie, that’s not necessarily enough to guarantee her a spot in the DCU.
Looking at the current DCU slate of films, there’s not necessarily a natural place for Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn to show up. The Brave and the Bold is the only Batman film, and that seems like it will be focusing too much on Damian Wayne and Bruce Wayne’s relationship to fold in a big character like Quinn. It’s also always possible that Gunn could bring Robbie back for one of his The Suicide Squad spin-offs like Peacemaker.
Since Margot Robbie’s DCU future might be uncertain for the moment, it does seem like it would be a good time for her to take on an MCU offer. However, even if she doesn’t, Robbie has plenty of other projects lined up. It’s not like she can’t afford to say no — even to a giant franchise like Marvel.
Margot Robbie’s next film will be the Wes Anderson-directed Asteroid City, which is set to come out on June 21. The film follows a Junior Stargazer convention in the desert that is interrupted by world-changing events. Along with Robbie, the film also stars Scarlett Johansson, Jason Schwartzman, Tom Hanks, Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinson, Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Adrien Brody, Steve Carrell, Maya Hawke, Hong Chau, and Willem Dafoe.
We’ll also finally get to see Margot Robbie’s Barbie this summer. The film co-stars Ryan Gosling as Ken and is directed by Greta Gerwig. You can catch that in theaters on July 21.
