Margot Robbie Advocated A Script Change So She Could Kiss Brad Pitt
Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt will be sharing a kiss in their upcoming film Babylon, and apparently, it was all Robbie’s idea. In a recent interview with E! News, Robbie revealed that the kiss was unscripted saying, “When else am I gonna get the chance to kiss Brad Pitt?” Of course, she ran the idea by director Damien Chazelle, who ended up admitting that it worked for the character.
It sounds like Margot Robbie’s kiss scene might have had some ulterior motives, but it served the movie anyway. Plus, it seems pretty unlikely that Brad Pitt would have a problem with this script adjustment. We’ll get to see the kiss for ourselves when the film hits theaters this month.
Babylon stars Margot Robbie as an aspiring actress in the 1920s. To make her Hollywood dreams come true she enlists fellow actor Manny Torres (Diego Calva) and veteran actor Jack Conrad (Brad Pitt). The star-studded cast doesn’t end there, as the film also features Jean Smart, Olivia Wilde, Samara Weaving, Tobey Maguire, Phoebe Tonkin, Katherine Waterston, Max Minghella, Eric Roberts, Lukas Haas, Jennifer Grant, Spike Jonze, Lewis Tan, Flea, Kelly Daly, and Raelynn Harper.
Damien Chazelle writes and directs Babylon in his first feature directorial effort since 2018’s The First Man. Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt are both reuniting after previously appearing together in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood in 2019. The film is set to hit theaters on December 23.
While we wait for Babylon, you can catch Robbie in the David O. Russell film Amsterdam on HBO Max, which co-stars Christian Bale and John David Washington. The film follows three friends who witness a murder and are subsequently framed. Along with Margot Robbie, Bale, and Washington, the film stars Alessandro Nivola, Andrea Riseborough, Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Rock, Michael Shannon, Timothy Olyphant, Mike Myers, Taylor Swift, Zoe Saldana, Rami Malek, and Robert De Niro.
You can see Brad Pitt’s latest performance in Bullet Train, which recently became available to stream on Netflix. The film follows Pitt as one of many assassins who find out they have a common mission when on a bullet train in Japan. The David Leitch-directed film also stars Joey King, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry, Andrew Koji, Hiroyuki Sanada, Michael Shannon, Sandra Bullock, Bad Bunny, Logan Lerman, Zazie Beetz, Masi Oka, and Karen Fukuhara.
We should see Robbie in a few more big films after Babylon in 2023, including Barbie, Asteroid City, and an untitled Oceans Eleven film (fingers crossed for a Brad Pitt cameo). Barbie is definitely the biggest blockbuster on her plate, as Robbie is set to play the titular doll in the film directed by Greta Gerwig, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Noah Baumbach. Along with Margot Robbie as Barbie, the film will star Ryan Gosling as Ken, and Will Ferrell, America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Kate McKinnon, Ariana Greenblatt, Alexandra Shipp, Issa Rae, Michael Cera, Ncuti Gadwa, Emerald Fennell, Hari Nef, Emma Mackey, and more.
While Brad Pitt doesn’t have any roles on his slate, he’s staying plenty busy with his production company. Until we find out his next role, you can catch him alongside Margot Robbie in Babylon. Make sure to go see it when it hits theaters in a couple of weeks.
