We are a mere few months away from seeing the highly anticipated The Mandalorian Season 3 on Disney+, and we now have some information about one of the returning characters. Moff Gideon, played by Giancarlo Esposito in The Mandalorian, is going through a bit of a makeover. The new design of Moff Gideon will see the man take on that of a Mandalorian, as he will have new armor, a new black sleek helmet with horns that resemble Darth Maul’s horns, and a black and red jetpack.

This new design will see Moff Gideon have a helmet that is similar to a Mandalorian, though it will not exactly be like any that have been shown in the series so far. It appears that with this new redesign, Gideon is going to be taking more of a hands-on approach when it comes to fighting Din Djarin and getting the Darksaber back. We also know that Bo-Katan Kryze wants the Darksaber back as well to unify Mandalore, so we could be seeing more of a fight happening for the fateful weapon.

Mando simply wants to exist in the world along with Grogu, but he is constantly coming under fire from those who want to kidnap Grogu and use his force abilities for their own nefarious purposes. Now it appears as if Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) is going to be using his own type of Mandalorian type armor to put up more of a fight, especially against someone who was able to take out many Dark Troopers by himself. We are not sure if Gideon is going to be using the Armorer to make his new helmet, but we could see him forcing something like that to happen.

What makes this new Giancarlo Esposito Mandalorian redesign that much more interesting is that last we saw Gideon, he was nearly being taken out by Din, and there is no telling where he is at. He could be kept under guard by Bo-Katan and her crew, but that would mean he would have to be broken out of whatever jail he is in, then create new armor to attempt to wreak havoc on the galaxy once again. It is great that Gideon is also going to be another focal point for the third season, assuming that the above rumor is going to be confirmed.

Another point to be made is that the above armor description also indicates that Giancarlo Esposito might look like a Mandalorian Dark Trooper combination, or at least that is what we are picturing with this new redesign of the character. The horns all over the helmet are also a great nod to Darth Maul, as he also had many dealings with the Mandalorians. We are not sure if that is a purposeful connection, but it sounds like it could be another easter egg for fans of Star Wars.

We are not sure when it will happen, but it sounds like Giancarlo Esposito is going to be appearing in The Mandalorian Season 3, which is set to debut on Disney+ on February 22nd. We can’t wait to see what happens next.
