Man Of Steel 2 Is Happening And More
Man of Steel 2 is reportedly in the works. But that's not all...

Man of Steel 2 is a movie that fans have been wondering about for almost a decade. The original film kicked off the new era of DC Comics on the big screen, and no momentum on a true sequel has happened. No, that one movie doesn’t count. We have been waiting for a solo Superman follow-up and now it’s starting to sound like that might actually become a reality.
Geekosity reports that Man of Steel 2 is moving forward, but even more surprising is that a third film is also being discussed. Supposedly, a lot of these decisions are being motivated by the eventual release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, a new version of the 2017 film that promises to deliver the director’s original vision for the DC superhero team-up feature. If that release is successful, it sounds like Warner Bros. might be considering a return for Zack Snyder to the DC character that he started this whole shindig with.
However, the report from Geekosity does not say that’s what’s being considered. Though, it is a worthwhile assumption. Snyder has maintained a loyal and vocal fanbase over the years. Is Warner Bros. thinking about letting him pick back up with Man of Steel 2? Maybe! At this point, it is pure speculation. Frankly, it would be more interesting to see a new director and vision attached to the Superman character, but if Warner Bros. believes that Snyder can replicate some success for them, they will likely give him the first shot at a sequel to his own movie.
The real kicker here is that we may be getting both Man of Steel 2 and Man of Steel 3. Superman is one of the cornerstone characters of the DC universe, and the idea that he would not be getting his own focal series of films is a little bizarre. Some people have argued that it’s too difficult to make a modern Superman movie, but that might have more to do with this particular riff on the character than the character himself. There are some phenomenal modern Superman stories that could act as a good springboard for new films.
Exactly what the timeline on Man of Steel 2 and its potential sequel would be is also unclear. The upcoming slate of DC films is looking pretty stacked – Wonder Woman 1984, The Suicide Squad, The Flash, Aquaman 2, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and Black Adam – and it’s worth wondering exactly how a new Superman trilogy would slide into those plans. One would assume that a Superman trilogy would be a high priority.
Still, it sounds like these plans for Man of Steel 2 and 3 are going to hinge on what happens with Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Personally, this author would like to see Henry Cavill as Superman again but in something far less Sturm und Drang than what he has been subjected to in the Zack Snyder films. We will have to wait and see how this all plays out. In the meantime, go watch Superman: The Animated Series if you need your Superman itch scratched. It deserves so much more love than it gets.
